Expert Tip. Messina, 38 kilometres from the hotel, is home to a 12th-century cathedral which boasts a clock tower with mechanical statues that show events from the city's history daily at noon. Further highlights include the 16th-century Fountain of Orion, and the Palazzo Calapaj, a fine example of regional 18th- century architecture.
