Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 54Beautiful hotel, a tad dated, but very nice...
If you enjoy a pool area, this is the best in the area by far. Rooms a tad dated but not bad. Great views.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 54Short Stay, but worth it
We stayed at the Maui Hyatt for just a short time, but it was awesome. We booked a nice but standard room, but when we arrived, we were upgraded to a top floor ocean view with a view. Amazing views of Kaanapali coast, Lanai and Molokai, with the incredible pool below. A romantic hotel, but good for families too. The poolside bistro is OK, not great. But then we swam in the huge waterfall pool until midnight and relaxed in the spa next morning. Amazing bed, amazing view, beautiful spa. Highly recommended.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 54Unbelievable
I initally booked this hotel because I heard it had the best pool ever - waterslides! When we got there, it totally blew my mind. The pool was on 1/2 an acre, included a swim-up bar, and there were plenty of pool chairs available (not the case at another hotel we stayed at). The main lobby was breath-taking. It was open and breezy and just made you feel good walking through it. The room was awesome as well. It had an awesome view (make sure you ask for ocean view) and up to date furniture. I will DEFINITELY book this hotel if I make it back to Maui.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 54Great Stay
We were very pleasantly surprised with the hotel... The pool and amenities were fantastic. If we ever come back to Maui, this will be our hotel. It was also very close to Lahaina for shopping and activities. This very much felt like what a top notch resort should feel like. We were a little nervous when we read reviews that there was a very small beach front and there were not enough lawn chairs at the hotel. However, we did not realize that this hotel was at the beginning of the hotel chain on kaanapali beach, and that they had paved walkways along the beach connecting all the hotels. So, although we had a small stretch of sand, a 2 minute walk on the paved walkway led to a large open portion of the beach. Also, there were plenty of chairs available, so the hotel obviously read some of their reviews and fixed this issue. Staying on Maui, and this hotel, was the highlight of our trip.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 54Fantastic Hotel but Old.
We stayed for 3 nights. This would have been a fantastic hotel 30 yrs ago, the grounds are still excellent with many beautiful waterfalls, Japanese gardens, real penguins, swans, flamingos and swimming pool with grattos and bridges, and live music all day. You hardly need to leave the hotel to enjoy the beauty of the place. We did not like the rooms which were quite old with all brown rattan furnitures all dated. We reserved Deluxe oceanview which had a partial ocean view with dirty curtains. We complained and they upgraded without cost to a room that faced the ocean on 18th floor which was much better. If you don't mind a bit old room, this hotel is a good one. Luau is good, it's worth to get premier seats at Luau, you don't have to wait in line to get in or get your food and you are seated right in the front. You definitely need a car to get around, not many taxis or public transportation.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 54OK
I would rate our stay at the hotel "OK". The rooms are pretty dated (no flat screen tv in our room) and need better lighting. Also, it looks like there is some deferred maintenance on the woodwork around the hotel. We did enjoy the Ipod docking station. I also liked the small refrigerator in our room. Good for bottle water. The grounds are lovely and there were plenty of lounge chairs. Overall the staff was nice and accommodating, although I tried to book a room for another family member who was flying in for only one night. The front desk agent offered me a mountain view room at a rate that was more than my than my ocean view room. I asked if he could do any better, he made a call and told me that was the best that the hotel could do. I was told by two staff members that the hotel was at 60% occupancy. Interesting........ The food I ordered at the poolside was good, but watch out for the birds! Cocktails were pretty expensive, $17.75 for a Belvedere martini.
