Location. The Howard Johnson Grand Plaza Hotel is a modern tower with a glass façade, overlooking Bucharest's city center, 500 meters from the National Art Museum. The hotel is 15 kilometers away from Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport.

Hotel Features. The hotel's Avalon Restaurant offers Euro-Asian cuisine served in a contemporary, warm earth-toned setting with glassworks by Al Ghildus, lighting by Ingo Maurer, Guy Degrenne cutlery and Limoges tableware. Tepannyaki and sushi specialities are prepared at hibachi tables in the informal, contemporary ambience of the Behani Restaurant. The Centro Bar offers snacks and refreshments served in a relaxed setting, with low-rise scarlet-upholstered armchairs. The Metamporphosis Fitness Club features a gym, sauna, hammam and solarium. Two ballrooms provide facilities for weddings and banquets of up to 400 people and seven meeting rooms offer audio-visual equipment for seminars or conferences of up to 90 people. Guestrooms. The 18-story hotel features 285 guestrooms decorated in shades of brown and taupe. All have safes, desks and air conditioning. Bathrooms have bathrobes and slippers.

Expert Tip. The 19th-century Palatul Cotroceni, Blvd. Geniului 1, was the home of the royal family from 1893 until they were chased out by the communists in 1947. Rebuilt after a 1977 earthquake, it is lavishly furnished containing many personal items left by the fleeing royals.
