    Our stay began with the "red carpet" entrance leading into a lovely lobby with a very helpful desk clerk. Old world charm exuded from the rich, dark wood, to the beautiful crystal chandeliers in the restaurant off the lobby. Our room was large, comfortable, with European bedding, and a modern bathroom. The only "confusing" thing was the shower without a curtain, but with a small clear shield that, no matter how hard we tried not to, we got water on the floor!! But, the overall experience out weighed the shower. The breakfast offered a good variety of American and Finnish foods to choose from, all delicious. The location across the street from the train station, and a short walk to the bus station was perfect. And, we were in walking distance to the harbor where there is a large market place, the downtown area with major stores, lovely boutiques, Tax Free Finnish goods, restaurants of all cultures, museums and other national sites. We have been to Helsinki several times, and wish we had found this hotel sooner. We definitely will be back.

Location. The grand Hotelli Seurahuone is located in central Helsinki, Finland, opposite the main train station. The hotel is 600 metres from Helsinki Cathedral, while Market Square and the Old Market Hall are 800 metres away.

Hotel Features. Occupying a 19th-century stone building, the six-storey Hotelli Seurahuone has a 24-hour front desk and multilingual staff on hand to assist guests.

High ceilings and chandeliers decorate the interior of the Hotelli Seurahuone's Ravintola Seurahuone Restaurant. Designed by Armas Lindgren in 1914, the restaurant serves international cuisine. The glass-domed lobby bar is decorated with chandeliers and dark wood furnishings. Complimentary buffet breakfast is served daily.

The hotel's meeting rooms can accommodate small groups. There is complimentary wireless Internet access in public areas and complimentary use of the lobby computer. Newspapers are also provided in the lobby. Banqueting facilities include private dining rooms.

Guestrooms. Dark wood fittings contrast with cream walls in the Hotelli Seurahuone's 118 guestrooms. All rooms have satellite television and wireless Internet access. Rooms feature tea/coffee- making facilities, desks, minibars, irons/ironing boards and safes. Ensuite bathrooms are equipped with hair dryers and bath/shower combinations. All rooms are non- smoking although there is a smoking area within the property.

Expert Tip. Art-lovers will enjoy the hotel's proximity to two Helsinki art galleries. The Ateneum Art Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma are 100 metres from Hotelli Seurahuone.
