Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 448one night stay at the Valencia in a room that wasn't cleaned...
Very dark, musty smelling hotel. The only good thing about it was the location on the Riverwarlk. As we were checking in, we found a pair of dirty socks near one of the beds.. black socks on black carpeting, so we didn't see it earlier because the room was also very dark. I would not recommend this hotel because it was pricey and I didn't feel I got what I paid for, far from it. Another thing that I found very annoying was a basket of 'snacks' that was provided and everything was outrageously priced - $6.00 for a bottle of mineral water? please!!

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 448Unique Hotel, Excellent Location
The occasion of our visit was my wife's birthday, so I wanted our experience to be a great one, and Hotel Valencia did not disappoint. This is not your ubiquitous chain hotel; Valencia is certainly not afraid to be unique. The rooms are spacious, richly appointed with dark woods and fabrics, and almost appear masculine in appointment. The bed was comfortable, the sheets high quality, but the pillows are what we enjoyed so much. They are easily the best hotel pillows we have experienced. My wife has a bad disc in her neck, yet awakened refreshed and comfortable. Even with the convenienct access to the RiverWalk, the rooms remained very quiet. My wife felt the safety deposit box style security was far more secure for her jewelry than in-room safes. We breakfasted daily at the restaurant and felt the food was both a good value and of the highest quality. The staff was friendly and accomodating. All told, I felt the Hotel Valencia was one of the most comfortable I have ever experienced at any price, and I am an accomplished traveler. My highest recommendation for the hotel, and for San Antonio as a destination.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 448Buyer Beware
Upon checking in to the hotel, we were required to sign a customer agreement specifying that we would not make loud noises. We soon discovered that there is a reason for this stipulation... The contemporary doors don't muffle sounds from the hallway. The walls are apparently not insulated because we heard every sound and most movement from surrounding rooms, including footsteps and bed squeeks. And yes, our bed squeeked noticeably. The touted "seven layer" bed was hard enough to give both my husband and I a very uncomfortable night and backaches the next day. My husband resorted to sleeping in the well-used leather chair and ottoman. Apparently others have had the same experience. The staff was not concerned with our comments at checkout.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 448Sigh
Not what I had previously experienced. Had gone for 5 year anniversary, and the hotel looks much different than last visited. The beds are most uncomfortable and hard, but the pillows were the only thing outstanding. Not to mention I reserved a smoking room, and they gave us a non-smoking room. Quite unimpressed for the value.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 8 of 448Great for a good night's sleet
The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The shutters on the windows blocked out all of the light, allowing me to sleep late despite the fact that I was out of my usual time zone. My only complaints were that the hotel did not offer complimentary breakfast, and breakfast options other than the overpriced hotel restaurant were hard to come by. Also, there is one closet and only two drawers in which to store clothing. I only stayed for a weekend so I didn't take my clothes out of the suitcase, but if one were staying longer or there were more people in a room, clothing storage would be insufficient.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 448Too Modern
The decor of the hotel was a bit too modern for my taste. I don't think the photos accurately depict the look of the hotel. Even though the hotel is on the Riverwalk, you have to exit the hotel and go down some stairs around the corner. I wanted the Riverwalk to be accessable directly from the hotel. Also, it was kind in the middle of nowhere. You had to walk a very desolate block along the river to get to any restaurants, etc.

The room was way above what i expected.. The robes were nice addition..the extra large bath towels were great...A large person would feel ok using them and not slighted..IT WAS BEAUTIFUL..

Trip Type: Business Review 12 of 448Great Visit!
The hospitality at Hotel Valencia was outstanding!!! Super staff!!!! First impression was that it was too dark at street level, the lobby, and hallways but it was simply a matter of adjusting to the atmosphere. Food was great and so were the drinks! Thanks for a great visit to San Antonio!

Hotel was more than we expected! Halls were slightly dim on lighting. All of their staff was very professional, friendly, and courteous. Valet parking staff was outstanding! Very convienient to everything in the area including some great restaurants. We will definately stay there again and would highly recommend them to anyone.

My husband and I love this hotel because you don't have to leave the place. There is a great restaurant and an awesome bar with great service.
