    They were a little suspicious I felt. I asked if there was a place I could make a cup of tea and she rather reluctantly said I could use the machine in the breakfast room. She kept an eye on me. I came down in the morning around 4am to make another cup, as I had to catch a very early train and would not be there for the breakfast, which was included in the price. She told the night clerk to make sure and charge me 1,80 euros for each cup of tea, even though I did not stay for breakfast. He watched me carefully, as if he thought i might skip out without paying for the tea. I had paid for my room in advance.

Set in a modern whitewashed building, five kilometers from the center of Rennes, the Stars Hotel offers simple accommodation decorated along a maritime theme. The 47 rooms have blue and yellow fabrics, with nautical designs and modern wood furniture. All have bathrooms with showers, cable television.

The hotel's dining room, with blonde wood tables and chairs and blue décor, serves buffet breakfasts and snacks for lunch and dinner. There is also a bar where guests can relax until late. Parking spaces line the front of the hotel. The hotel is five kilometers from Rennes' attractions; the 16th century Palais de Justice was the seat of the old Breton parliament and visitors can also enjoy the Museum of Brittany. Mont Saint Michel and the rocky Brittany coastline are about 50 kilometers away. The nearest airport is Rennes, which lies 15 kilometers from the hotel. Regular buses link the airport to the city center. Taxis are also available outside the airport. Rennes railway station is five kilometers from the hotel. Rennes is best explored using the cheap and reliable bus service or on foot.
