great location

We were very comfortable with this hotel, which had everything we needed for a good stay. It was close to what we wanted to do, and the proximity to the BART was an excellent advantage. The staff was very pleasant, and a request for a desk chair replacement (for example) was fulfilled immediately. The room was small, but very nicely arranged and beautifully appointed. With the addition of a few hooks for hanging things in the bathroom, it would have been perfect.

Great new option for Berkeley area

Urban setting convenient to UC Berkeley with updated interior and friendly service. Some street noise, no closet(armoire) but very comfortable and clean.

Very Nice Place to Stay

I was totally enamored. The people were friendly and efficient. The location of the hotel was perfect for my purposes (visit my son and attend a play the the Reperatory Theater. The lobby and my room were pleasant and comfortable.

Outstanding Hotel

This hotel was wonderful. It was very close to the Berkeley campus and lots of great eating locations. Parking was off-site about a block away and for 28 hour parking was $24.00. We loved the hotel and would definitely go back on a future visit. I would recommend Looney's Smokehouse BBQ. The food was terrific.

Modern and hip

Very upscale and hip. The room was small but impressive, with LCD TV with jacks on the wall for all kinds of connections, complimentary internet, small but modern bathroom with clear glass corner shower, modern sink, frosted glass bathroom door and robe. Bed was pillow top and very comfortable. Good noise insulation and digital thermostat. No view, but I didn't need one. We didn't have washcloths but they were delivered in only a couple minutes after I requested them. There was only one robe, but I didn't bother to request a second.

We thought this hotel was great. The location was terrific and the room and hotel was updated.

Nice hotel with few perks

The hotel is recently renovated and you can tell it is very clean and new. However, the bathroom sink is the new-fangled bowl on top the counter type and the faucets are set very close to the rim so you bang your hands when washing them. The 2nd day, we didn't have any washcloths. The 3rd day, we returned to our room at 3 pm and housekeeping still had not been in, so we called and housekeeping finally came. There is no coffeepot in the room and it was $2/cup in the lobby. There are no newspapers. The restaurant is very expensive and the nearest coffee place is about a half block away, so you have to get all dressed to just get coffee. Parking is in the lot across the street, about $21/day or you can feed the meters in the street. Basically, I didn't feel we got the value for the price. The good thing is that it is only about 3 blocks from UC Berkeley. But I will find another less expensive hotel when I return, and at least get coffee in the morning.

Great hotel

Our stay was very wholesome and satisfactory. Staff are very polite, courteous and helpful. The hotel is very well situated in the middle of almost everything. We visited UC Berkeley often since it is simply a good 'exercise" . Atmosphere in the area was very pleasant and we feel very secure. Although it is a little bit pricey, the comfort we got is worth it. Definitely we'll stay there again.

Very Fine Little Hotel

I loved everything about this hotel! Comfortable beds, very clean, helpful, friendly staff. Nicer than a couple Kimpton hotels I recently stayed at. One nice feature is that the TV is not part of the horrible Lodgenet system. They actually have high definition. Hotels.com gives this place 3.5 stars. It's 4 stars for me.
