    The Santo Tomas was the home of a coffee baron from several decades ago. It has been fixed up & is a nice little gem. The immediate neighborhood is not good, but in close walking distance to the heart of the city. It has a European character to the hotel & the food is good in the restaurant & the service of the staff was very helpful in helping make tour arrangements & providing guidance.

The Hotel Santo Tomas in Costa Rica is a boutique hotel housed in a restored, turn-of-the-century coffee plantation home. It features 30 guestrooms embellished in French, Louis XV decor. In the Barrio Amon in the center of downtown San Jose, the Santo Tomas is only 25 kilometers (14 miles) east of the Juan Santamaria Airport, and within walking distance of shopping and tourist attractions such as the National Zoo, the Gold Museum and the National Museum and Theater.

The Santo Tomas Hotel is the only San Jose hotel with an outdoor solar-heated pool and spa tub, as well as a children's pool, set in a colorful, lush floral garden. Guests can enjoy international and Costa Rican cuisines in the open-air restaurant and bar, El Oasis, next to the pool area, while listening to the soothing sound of the waterfall.

Other amenities offered are a meeting room, business center and Internet access in the hotel's public areas; additional services include car rental desk, currency exchange, safe-deposit boxes, and legal and real-estate counseling.
