Trip Type: Romance Review 19 of 247A Romantic Weekend
My husband booked a trip to DC for us for a romantic weekend getaway. After searching online for various hotels, he decided to book with the Palomar because of the location and affordable pricing. Boy were we amazed! (Please note this was our first DC trip, as well). When we drove up to the Palomar, we were greeted by the valet drivers who very pleasantly took our bags for us and parked our car in their exclusive lot. The check in was very quick, and we immediately went to our room. We were amazed. The room was spacious and beautiful and the bedding was cozy and elegant. We went down to the bar, Urbana, the first night, but it was a little too high class for us, considering we didn't pack any nice clothes, only sneakers and such. The hotel was only a block from the Metro train, where we found it easy to tour the city the whole weekend. Our only negative experiance was with the people in the room beside us, because at 4am they were making a TON of noise and being loud in the hall. Other than that, we had an amazing time and will definately be back!!

Trip Type: Romance Review 21 of 247Better than expected
The Palomar was a great value and I was very happy with the hotel. A beautiful lobby with a warm fireplace, cool modern decor and happening bar give you a good welcoming. Very nice rooms and hallways, well maintained and with up to date amenities. Obviously this hotel is up to date and it shows in many different ways throughout.

Trip Type: Family Review 25 of 247Special place for a wonderful experience.
Service and staff were excellent.Hallways need to be aired out but that is to be expected with an old hotel. Room was huge and nicely furnished. Can't say anything negative about the stay!

Trip Type: Business Review 27 of 247Excellent Location, but...
First Kimpton hotel that I found to be below expectation. Too many pieces of furniture for a very tiny space. The Airconditioning unit was very loud when it came on or went off. Some of the lights in the room did not work. The internet connection was very poor, unreliable and intermittent. Worst of all, hotel staff gave me a wake up call that was not requested and through off my entire day's schedule. Same thing happened to my colleague in the next room. Checkout took 20 minutes even though I had zero balance.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 28 of 247Nice place to stay.
We stayed in Washington on our way to New York and had a nice experience at the Hotel Palomar. Not the least expensive, but it was close enough to the museums to be worth it. We had Chinese food in the evening and although we first ordered for delivery the wait time was 50 minutes so we decided to just pick it up since the restaurant (Meiwah - corner of New Hampshire and M St.) was only about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Food was not bad at all - definitely generous portions. The staff at front desk and reception was just ok - seemed like generally it was without character and style - just people doing their jobs. Definitely could be much better, especially for a Kimpton property. The one other gripe I have with this property is the parking. I was not looking forward to paying the $34 and tip for overnight parking so we drove around a bit and luckily found a spot just half a block away at a metered spot but since we were outside regulation times we didn't have to pay anything (we only needed to move it before 9am the next day which was fine since we were heading out early anyway). The room was very nice, though (we had the king executive). Spacious with a big comfortable bed. Wireless Internet in the room was also free which was great. Hotel decor was also very nice. Despite little issue with staff and parking, would still highly recommend it for a nice stay in Washington.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 29 of 247Service was not as expected
I had requested a wine/cheese plate upon arrival (as they advertise), that didn't happen. The manager apologized and eventually brought up a fruit tray and some beer as a substitute, but at that point I just wanted to go to sleep. The room was noisy, the adjoining room had kids and a dog and I could hear them through the connecting door. Guests with kids and/or dogs should not be booked in rooms with connecting doors unless they are part of the same party. On the other hand, the concierge was very well prepared with information about sites to visit, how to get around, etc...
