Renovation of the Hotel Morales was completed in 2005. It's like a brand new hotel. I doubt that it ever was as nice as it is now during it's glory days. Some work was being done to put a roof over an open courtyard in the core of the building while we were there. This was done during hours that did not disturb guests. Also, the entire interior common areas were being painted not because they needed to be painted, but rather to give the interior a more lively appearance. The new color was an improvement. Room furnishings were excellent. All of the hotel employees were exceptionally pleasant and attentive to our needs. There was one minor thing the hotel could do to improve. The wall-hung metal soap dish in the shower should have a drainage hole in it, otherwise it becomes a pool of melted soap. Although the location was extremely convenient for the historic district, I was disappointed to find almost no good restaurants near the hotel. We had to either drive or take a taxis to find a decent restaurant other than the hotel's restaurant. I was really surprised how modestly priced the hotel was by comparison to hotels in other cities of Mexico. Overall, highly recommended.

Great Hotel to stay. I was very impressed with the service, the location and cleaniness. The decoration was stunning, "hacienda" style.

We loved the service in this hotel. The staff is bilingual. My girlfriend describes the hotel as "glamourous".

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 89Lovely spot
After spending my previous 3 nights in a quite nice hostel, it still felt great to move into Hotel Morales. The staff was very helpful with a change in my reservation and with arranging for a tour to Tequila, hailing cabs etc. Street construction all over Guadalajara made for some noise and inconvenience on the street, but it's still great to be in the heart of town. The bed was comfy, the shower was strong, the little mariachi trio that played in the early evening was nice (and not too loud). I was happier with an a la carte breakfast than with the buffet. I would definitely stay here again.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 89A gem in the Historic District of Guadalajara
With one exception, everything at the hotel met or exceeded my expectations. The rooms were spacious, clean, attractive and had all the amenities advertised. The only negative I found with the hotel was that the hotel restaurant (El Ruedo) food was good but could be better. The breakfast was excellent (make sure to ask for chilaquiles, which are only made available on request), but I feel the restaurant could really capitalize on its location/lobby with a boost in restaurant quality. The Historic core of Guadalajara needs another top notch restaurant (there are only a couple right now), and I think the Morales could be do that for not much more investment. However, this should not deter someone staying at the Morales. When I go back, I plan on staying there again.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 89Elegant Hotel
The Hotel Morales is located in the center of Town. Location was perfect. It is a very elegant Hotel. Beautiful fountains and tile work. Employees are bilangual, pleasant and very acomidating. Currently the street are being torn up and being replaced with pavers. This did not bother us. The City is getting ready for the Pan American Games in 2011. We had an inside air condition room and could not hear a sound from the street. Shops were an easy walk about a block or two and no construction. Numerous Plazas in the same area with live music, plenty of resturants, and blocks and blocks of shops. Carriage ride was very nice in the evening and inexpense. We really enjoyed our stay. You can not beat the price. Reminded me of the Elegant Hotels in San Franciso. Very nice and emaculate.

Currently doing extensive construction on the road in front of the hotel. The street is completely torn up for a couple of blocks so no road traffic is possible at the entrance. Otherwise, great hotel for a great price.

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 89Great Location in Downtown Guadalajara
Hotel is central to all downtown attractions. Staff were incredible. Photos do not do justice to the hotel. We will stay at this location again.
