Trip Type: Romance Review 16 of 198Above and beyond in service
First off, for the price that I paid, this hotel was way more than I expected. It was very clean and fancy. The only problem I had was with billing, but it was so thoroughly fixed that it actually made me happier with the hotel! Basically they charged me an incidental after telling me that they wouldn't, which completely emptied my checking account. After noticing the charge, I called the hotel and the manager went out of her way to set things right. She called my bank and made sure the money was put back immediately and that I wouldn't be charged overdraft fees. She was also so polite and apologetic that it more than made up for the inconvenience. Mistakes happen, but most people and businesses aren't willing to fess up when they do.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 17 of 198Alittle hot but perfect
I held a bachelorette party here, and his place was great. classy, antique, and beautiful decor. seriously I would totaly repeat the stay for a romantic evening. Only problem is that the air conditioner broke and we didnt know it until the stripper got there. He was alllllllll sweaty and not in a good way. lol. well they gave us a bigger room which was great cause the first part of the party was over. Thank you montgomery

Breakfast options were very less and it seemed overly priced.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 19 of 198Amazing Hotel!
This hotel was amazing. I've stayed in several hotels this year and this was one of, if not the best. The staff was so friendly, the room was very nice, and the bed was so comfortable. The style of the hotel was really cool as well. I stayed in town for the Rock and Roll San Jose half marathon and it was so convenient to everything. There are great restaurants within walking distance. The metro light rail runs right by the hotel, so it's really easy to get to and from the airport. I wish I was able to stay longer!

Trip Type: Business Review 20 of 198Much more than I expected
I expected a decent hotel for the price in a so-so part of town, but was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the entire hotel, especially the room. And the neighborhood was full of quality bars and restaurants. I "re-discovered" San Jose and will stay here next time whether on business or pleasure.

Trip Type: Business Review 22 of 198Lovely Overall Experience
The historic Hotel Montgomery was a wonderful landing spot for us during a hectic business trip. The rooms are clean and well appointed, the beds are comfy, wireless internet is free (parking is expensive, though - that was a bit of a downer), the lounge is trendy and serves great cocktails and snacks, and the hotel is centrally located and close to everything we needed. I would certainly recommend it for business or pleasure stays and would stay here again myself if the need arose.

Trip Type: Business Review 23 of 198Nice Boutique Hotel in Boring Downtown San Jose
This is a nice little boutique hotel that is sadly located in downtown San Jose. The city has tried for years to create a real urban center in San Jose, to no avail. Unless there's a specific event taking place -- a concert, SJ's summer jazz festival, downtown is fairly deserted and the lack of action is reflected in the hotel's quiet bar. But as the hotel goes it is very nice, and in a quiet location a few blocks from the other big hotels, some decent restaurants and government offices, if you do business with the state.

Re-modeled hotel is clean, attractive and comfortable. Service is average and unremarkable. Happy hour is worth a lokk.

Only four floors in this wonderful hotel and walking distance to convention center, food and museums. Rooms are updatedyet feel very European. Beats te standard convention hotels and the rates were great.

Trip Type: Business Review 29 of 198Great hotel..but have low expectations for room service
Nice hotel in great location. I was asked be put on hold each time I called room service (how about, "I see you're in room 306 may I call you right back?") and bartender who took the order repeatedly tried to sell me $8 bottle of imported water from Scandinavia rather than answer my question if they served tap water or filtered water. Sorry, I'll give a tip for service but won't buy pricey imported still water! They forgot the bread requested to accompany my salad, and when it was delivered only 10 minutes later (that was good), they didn't include butter. But when I had my dinner, it was delicious.
