Clean and quiet

I stayed here for 5 nights. The soundproofing is great- I never heard any other guests or outside street noise. The AC worked, important as I was there in mid-July. The room was small by US standards, but I did not feel overly cramped. The room was very clean and neat with modern decor. Bed was comfy with buckwheat pillows and they provided cotton pajamas. The neighborhood isn't anything exciting being mostly businesses but it is relatively close to a subway stop and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The staff was very polite and helpful. Overall a good place to unwind after a day of exploring the city.

Very Happy with Hotel Stay

We were very, very pleased with our stay at the Monterey Akasaka Hotel in Tokyo. Very reasonable rate for the generous service and gracious attitude of the helpful customer minded hotel staff. Close walk from nearby subway station. Lots and lots of restaurants, shopping and entertainment nearby, and then again, there's the nearby subway if you want to venture out. The view was gorgeous too, overlooking a park area with more of the Tokyo skyline beyond. Very, very enjoyable stay at this property. Highly recommended!!! A+++

I wish I had a better view

The room, the bathroom, the hotel, all that was great. I have gotten accustomed to having nice views of Tokyo when staying there, but overall I preferred this hotel over several others I stayed in the past few years. I loved the attention to detail, everything in the room was coordinated. Even though the room may be perceived as small by some westerners, it was very comfortable. I also enjoy Akasaka, and you are just minutes walking away from subway, great food, and fun.

Great hotel and location

Though the room was small, but that's to be expected in tokyo, the location is great, a few blocks away from the yellow and red metro lines that take you pretty much anywhere in the city.

Japanese Excellence!!!

I just returned from tokyo last week and stayed in this charming facility. I had read all the outstanding reviews before going and had all my expectations met. For starters this hotel is located about 5 minutes walk from the Akasaka restaurant district. We ate a different food every night: Spanish, Indian, Japanese sushi, and even an English pub. There is a Starbucks about 30 seconds from the front door and a myriad of other restaurant choices nearby. Transportation: Awesome location in the middle of Akasaka Mitsuke station and Aoyama station (Ginza line). All of Tokyo is at your fingertips. Can't beat the location. You will use Akasaka the most. I found Tokyo to be extremely safe so the neighborhood is not a problem at all; very quiet location. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this quiet hotel again. Rooms: Somewhere between a European room and an American room size, however, Extremely clean. Your laptop will work well in this hotel. They provide you with network cable and the sockets fit american 2 PRONG appliances. Bring a converter if you have a 3 PRONG appliance. Hotel staff is very nice and do their best to help you. I would recommend walking to the Larger hotels in the area to get good tour information. The New Otani is a GREAT hotel nearby that we used as our tour hub. There also is a great French restaurant, Aux Bacchales, at this hotel for breakfast - magnifigue!!!! Has a Las Vegas opulence to it (The new otani). Getting there: Take the NRT limo buses to the Akasaka Excel hotel OR the New Otani and walk 8 to 10 minutes to the Monterey. Best choice hands down. I can't say enough about this hotel. If you are here for a short vacation (3 days, 3 nights) you can't beat the deal. Stay here and you will enjoy your Tokyo experience!!!!!!! P.S.- I travel all over the world and this is one of the best lodging experiences i've had. Definitely got more for less.

Great service

We had a great stay at this hotel. It's between two subway stops, 3 blocks away in either direction. The hotel front desk service was great. They helped us figure out how to go to the different sites we were looking to see. Overall it was the best hotel at a great price. We will stay here again.

Location, Location, Location

Don't let my title fool you. Sure, the location is ideal: as centrally located as you could possibly want. Just minutes from a large, multi-line Metro station. The neighborhood is financial, but still packed with shops and restaurants and bars open until late in the evening. But wait, that's not all. The price was incredibly reasonable. The room was on the small side (as are most rooms in Tokyo) but did not feel cramped and it was immaculate. There was a vending machine in the hall that carried water, milk, soft drinks, mixers, and a nice selection of beer. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were quick to use the printed local maps to point us in the direction of local destinations. The buffet breakfast is expansive and delicious if a bit on the high side pricewise. I would stay here again in a Tokyo minute and would try their properties in other parts of Japan as a result of this visit.

Great Hotel

The hotel was a great find. It was in a great location with two subway stops nearby and in a very nice area. The hotel itself was very clean and although the rooms were a little small, they were very comfortable. The beds were soft and had a down blanket and the bathroom was spotless. The Japanese toilet was a great addition to the room. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great Hotel Great Location

The hotel was stylish, clean, and comfortable. Room was large enough for my tastes(remember, most Japanese hotel rooms are smaller than American ones) and the staff was pleasent and helpfull. Akasaka is a nice area and the hotel is just a few minutes walk from the Akasake-mutsuke subway station. For the price it could not be beat. My last trip I stayed at the Sunroute Plaza in Shinjuku which is also a very good hotel. I picked the Hotel Monterey Akasaka this time because of location (I wanted to be closer to Roppongi).

A very good bet

This is quite simply a great hotel for the cost. It is well lit and very clean. The location is ideal as Akasaka is a relatively quiet district in the center of the city. The Ginza (G05) and Marunouchi (M13) lines are a 5 minute walk away and there are dozens of restaurants closeby as well. We were planning on staying in another district when we returned to Tokyo at the end of our trip but when we went to that hotel, same price, in Shibuya we immediately left and returned to the Monterey Akasaka.

Prompt service

My friend wanted 5 extra packets of sugar for her tea, about 1 minute after she called the desk, someone was at the door with her sugar! The in-room massages were intense and fixed our backs. All in all the hotel was very affordable for what we received and was spotlessly clean.
