    Hotel des Puys was a nice, clean typical French hotel. A little more spartan than American style hotels, but great location near TRAM stop, shops, patissieries, and boulangeries. There is even a 24-hour pharamacie located in the same square! In addition to being a very small room, the only real negatives are the ridiculously small shower and lack of CNN on the cable television. However, the jewel of this hotel is the view from the top floor. From this vista, you can see beautiful views of the city, the landmark cathedral and the surrounding volcanic mountain tops, the "puys". Breakfast guests are treated not only to a great meal, but also a feast for the eyes with this unique view of the city.

Just 300 meters from Notre-Dame church, this modern hotel is close to the pedestrianised historical center of Clermont-Ferrand. The Amboise Fountatin, Porte des Agneaux and Pascal Square are all less than 500 meters from the hotel. All 57 air- conditioned rooms are decorated in simple fitted pine furniture with matching floral print bedspreads and curtains. Guestrooms provide cable TV with pay movies and dial-up Internet connections.

The hotel has a range of catering facilities: room service, a brasserie, conference and banqueting catering and a breakfast room, where guests can enjoy panoramic views of the town while reading complimentary newspapers. Each of the hotel's five floors is dedicated to a local tourist theme: volcanoes, châteaux, lakes, local towns and sports. Guests feeling inspired by the first of these themes might wish to seek out Vulcania, the first European volcano park, which is 16 kilometers away from the hotel. The hotel is eight kilometers from Clermont- Ferrand/Aulnat Airport. A taxi from the airport should cost around 20.
