Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 1 of 8Review ofHotel de la Mere Poulard
The hotel is a good place to stay because it is one of the few actually located in Mont St. Michael which is spectacular. It is very difficult to get to with luggage and there is no assistance carrying luggage from the parking lot up to the hotel or up several flights once you get there. Other than that, everything was fine. It is a bit pricey.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 8Hotel was good,
Being on the Isle Mont St. Michele, the lcoation cannot be beaten. Our room, however, did not have a view. It was clean and comfortable, but the hotel does not have a lift. There were quite a few stairs to climb. If you are visiting the isle, it is a good place to stay.

My room was located on the 4th Floor up a steep winding staircase that a goat would have a hard time climbing and no bellman. I had packed light for only one night, but still its a hard climb! They should have bellmen during check-in and check-out times. Overpriced and not great. Restaurant is overpriced and bad service. It is more a tourist attraction than a typical French restaurant. Would stay off the island at nearby hotels that have a great view of the island at night.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 8Okay, but probably not worth the price.
I chose this hotel over the others farther up the Mont because it sounded like it wouldn't involve hauling our luggage up quite so many stairs. (My traveling companion's health makes stairs somewhat difficult.) It turns out that although this is indeed the first hotel you come across as you enter the city gates, we still had a lot of stairs involved. Rooms in the main building are on the upper levels, which involves more than two narrow flights of curving stairs, but much worse are the rooms in the building next door, which require going up those two original flights of stairs, continuing outside to negotiate a small set of narrow, ancient stone steps, and then up possibly three more flights of stairs in the annex building. I actually found the trip from the front desk to our 3rd floor annex room to be a charming little adventure, but I also had lightweight luggage that was easy for me to tote. My companion was completely unable to carry her own luggage, and even without that she had some difficulty every time she went to or from the room. (About ten minutes after we asked, the front desk was able to track down someone who could carry her luggage to the room, but it doesn't seem to be a regularly expected request at this hotel.) The room itself was exactly what I expected from the reviews and pictures I've seen: no air conditioning and fairly small, but obviously recently updated. I was pleasantly surprised by the large, modern bathroom. We did need to sleep with the windows open due to the temperature, but there wasn't too much evening noise because the annex is pretty far back from the street. Knowing what I do now, I'd probably go ahead and try one of the less expensive hotels farther up the Mont next time, because there are lots of stairs either way, and those hotels higher up seemed to always have people on hand expecting to transport luggage for customers. I definitely recommend paying whatever it takes to stay directly on Mont St Michel; it was tru

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 8Awesome Location, Comfortable room
This was a great little hotel right on Mont St Michel. Its the first building in the little village below the abbey so the location is as good as it gets. The room was very clean, comfortable bed, large bathroom and nice shower. Mont St Michel is quite a site!

If visiting this outstanding site, this hotel is the place to stay. Negatives- if your room is on the 4th floor, it is quite a carry of luggage to the top. The restaurant is known for their omlettes, pretty tasty, but not worth the price $50/omlette. Positives- Well located at the bottom of the hill, lot of history.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 8Excellent Hotel, Superior Service and magic location
You must stay in Le Mere Pollard if you are going to Mt St Michel. This is old world hospitaility at its best. There is as much history on in the signed posters inside the hotel as there is outside. We heard about Mt St Michel and the hotel through a friend. If you only have one day in France you should go to Mont St Michel and stay at this hotel.
