The Hotel de France is well-located near the railway station and easily accessible to the Chateau d'Angers. The morning buffet breakfast is available in a beautiful room with two large oil paintings and a sculpture. The bedroom was quiet despite its overlooking a busy road in front of the rail station. If returning to Angers, I would definitely stay here, again.

The Hotel de France is a majestic late 19th century building located right opposite the TGV train station in Angers, within the rolling hills of the Loire valley. Room décor features muted yellow tones with polished wood furniture and amenities include wireless Internet access and cable television. A daily housekeeping service ensures guests are supplied with fresh towels and linens.

Guests can enjoy classic French dishes, seasonally changing menus and an extensive wine list in the hotel restaurant. There is also a hotel bar and lounge, and business guests can make use of the conference rooms. The surrounding area is rich with chateaux, castles and other historic landmarks. Guests can visit the troglodyte village of Rochemenier ,take a tour of the Cointreau museum and factory, or enjoy a family day out at the Zoo de Doue, with its caves, waterfalls and over 500 animals, many endangered species. The Chateau de Brissac, an original 15th century royal castle, stayed in by Louis XIII, is 15 kilometers away and for an alternative dining experience, Bateau promenade L'Hirondelle, 20 kilometers away, is a narrow boat restaurant which takes guests up the Loire River while they sample traditional French cuisine.
