Trip Type: Family Review 16 of 53Lovely hotel next to a train station
The hotel is really very nice, except for one major downside - it is situated next to Gare de Lyon and you cannot leave your windows open because every time a train stops it sounds like 100 decibels of nails on a chalkboard. Luckily the windows are quite soundproof - but without A/C it is too hot to sleep with the windows closed. They do provide a fan which is nice. The breakfast and the staff are very nice. The hotel is located at Bercy metro which is on convenient metro lines for a lot of tourist attractions. The hotel staff for the most part speaks english well. So: stay here if you are not staying during the summer/when it's hot.

Very close to rail station, very easy to get to the metro. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Trip Type: Business Review 18 of 53Ok hotel--good service
Rooms are small, as is the case all over Paris, particularly for a single. However, the bathroom was oversized for Paris and very clean and modern. A very good location if you are taking the train the next day from either the Gare de Bercy or the Gare de Lyon. Both train stations are an easy walk from the hotel.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 19 of 53Great value
The staff was very accommodating. As is customary in Europe the room was small, but clean and (for the most part) comfortable. The price included breakfast (the only hotel on this trip which did). A great value. I would certainly stay there again.

Trip Type: Family Review 20 of 53Great hotel
The staff is extremely friendly. They speak English well. The room I had was small, but more than enough for 2 people. The hotel is close to Gare de Lyon, which is a major public transportation station. I will go there again.

Trip Type: Family Review 21 of 53More for your money just five minutes from Notre Dame
This hotel was a bargain when we stayed in June. Just a five minute ride to the Bercy metro stop from Notre Dame (the savings were well worth the extra five minute commute). Staff is friendly, but was not able to advise about the surrounding area. Breakfast was EXCELLENT. I recommend this hotel-just be sure to request a room on the back side of the hotel or the trains will keep you up all night. Safe travels.

Trip Type: Romance Review 22 of 53Charming little hotel
We started our 10 European vacation in Paris at this hotel. What a little gem. The location is great. It is directly in front of the Bercy metro stop (lines 6 and 14). You can explore the whole city from there. The neighborhood is the 12th district. This is a mostly residential and business district, but there is a large sports arena near by and the Bercy train station that will take you to all locations in Italy. We found many local cafes and restaurants to eat at. The hotel itself was so charming. Our room was typically European in size... small. But it was very clean, with a good size bathroom, cable TV that included Canal +, large windows that provided a nice breeze, and my favorite part, wooden beams cross the ceiling. So cute! We loved this hotel and would stay again for sure!

Trip Type: Romance Review 25 of 53Great Hotel
We stayed 4 nights at the hotel and was overal very happy with the hotel. The price and location cant be beat. Its two stops out on the metro from Chalet station which is two blocks from Notre Dame. It takes no more then 10 minutes to get to the heart of Paris on the metro and the Bercy station is 20 feet from the door. The hotel staff was very nice and spoke english and even had cold beer for sale in the evening, the free breakfast was perfect, very european, cheese, hard/soft boiled eggs, coffee, bread etc etc. The room was on the small side but still very comfortable with a large bathroom. I would stay there again without a second thought.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 27 of 53French charm in a convienient location
Hotel Claret has French charm with small but pleasant rooms facing a quiet courtyard and a lovely free breakfast all for a reasonable price. It has elevators, but no AC. The location is great with a Metro station in front and just a few blocks from the Gare de Lyon to catch the train to the south of France.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 28 of 53Friendly Staff
The staff was very friendly and after I told them in French that my French was n'est pas bon, they spoke to me in English and in French when I tried. They were extremely helpful in telling me how to use the subway, which was right outside the front door, and the bus, which was right across the street. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Trip Type: Business Review 29 of 53Good bargain for Paris
The hotel is a little out of the way but the front door is 20' from the Bercy Metro entrance. From there, it's only 30 minutes to any part of town. The area was clean and quiet and appeared fairly safe as I walked around multiple times as late as 3 or 4 AM. The breakfast buffet is typical for European hotels but perhaps a bit more selection with croissants, bagettes, ham, cheese, yogurt, granola, hard boiled eggs, and fruit. There was alwasy someone available to open the front door 24-hours a day so no need to worry about being back by a certain time. The rooms were clean and fresh linens were supplied on a daily basis. There is no air conditioning but the large windows swing open to allow the cool night air to enter the room. The only downside of the this is the close proximity to the train station which meant passing trains at various hours through the night. For the price and location, I would stay at this hotel again. It's not among all the monuments but given the ease of the metro, unless you are travelling at odd times, it is still convenient.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 30 of 53Great Hotel
We stayed at Hotel Claret for 5 nights in late February of '09. The staff were very helpful and available. If you like firm beds, you will be pleased. The metro was located outside the entrance. Bercy station, #12 & #14 lines will get you to central Paris in 5 to 10 minutes. We would recommend opting for the breakfast which includes many goodies to get you warmed up for the day around Paris. Rooms facing the courtyard are your best bet as street-side rooms may be loud. There is a nice neighborhood for groceries and other small shops up the street. Doors lock at midnight with a bell that will notify the front desk to let you in. We will definitely consider staying here when we visit Paris again.
