Great place, had loud experience

The Blake rooms are lovely, clean and modern. Lots of restaurants around, including the hotel's restaurant CUSTOM HOUSE. My only issue was an insanely loud experience at 4am - which sounded like major construction - on the street level. I was on the 9th floor and it was still enough to wake me and keep me awake. I had loud neighbors across the hall who were loud talkers in the hall and left their sleep alarm running while they were at breakfast. Aside from that, accommodations were nice and the staff was friendly. I appreciated the free wireless and cont. breakfast.

Great Hotel

Hotel Blake is a comfortable, stylish hotel that is clean and well-maintained. It is conveniently located near the CBOE and CBOT at the south end of the loop. The subway and L are close by. There are also restaurants and bars nearby. It's a short walk (a few blocks) from the VanBuren Street Station for the South Shore train. We've stayed here twice and would stay again.

Hotel Blake is a great deal

The hotel is modern, stylish, and clean. The staff are more than friendly. The room comes with free wireless internet access and continental breakfast. It's a great deal. The only downsides were that the room could have use brighter lights and the internet connection was slow.

great customer service

the room had a leak in it which caused a puddle on the floor. i told the hotel manager and he offered me a deal for one of the remaining nights i was booked to stay. he turned a bad situation into a positive and i would stay in this hotel again.

Outstanding hotel

Excellent hotel. Other than a mismatched top to the water yank of the toilet, everything was very nice. The staff was very professional.

Excellent value

I would have preferred a better breakfast (it's complimentary), even if it meant a higher room price. Otherwise, everything was right with the Blake.

business travelers need to think twice

i will strongly discourage business travelers in using the hotel: - my room faces the back alley of the hotel. while i don't mind a room with no view, the room does not get any natural light, and forget about working in it (see reasons below) - 2 out of 4 mornings i was awaken at about 5 am or so. my room is right above where trucks load/garbage pickup. - the room is dark, with only 3 lights (excluding the bathroom). there is no desk. - hotel's website says free internet in certain rooms. it turns out, there's free wireless for all. however, i don't have that feature. - the business center has only one computer. checking your email is ok, but working on it, forget about it. the hotel uses satellite TV. on a windy day (it is Chicago, afterall), like one of those 4 days i stayed, the reception is constantly interupted, first every 10 minutes, then every minute, then every 15 seconds.

Great Stay! Great Location!

This hotel is wonderful! There isn't much to it when you first walk in, but the staff was very polite and informative. Once we made our way up to our room we were very pleased. Our king bed was very comfortable and sported a white down blanket and pillows. Our view from the room wasn't fantastic, but it was a beautiful room regardless. The shower in the bathroom was a walk-in/half glass door, a pleasantly surprising change from a hotel. Also, location was wonderful, only a 5 minute taxi drive to navy pier! I believe the red-line (?) or some type of public transportation was located on the same block as the hotel (we did not use this, but will consider it in the future). Parking was our only worry. Valet parking was $40 a night, or you could self-park for $25 down the street. I would recommend taking public transportation or having your car valeted. The self-park service seemed a bit flawed, but we did not experience any problems. Overall, great stay. We will be visiting again.
