Sweet Sauce

I have to say that waiting until the last min in Aspen to get a room for a Wedding is a bad idea. The room for the price was a great value. I stayed in the Limelight one night and the next night in Hotel Aspen. All the basics were the same...the Limelight had a slightly fancier feel to it, but I liked the feel of Hotel Aspen. Lots of Fun!!!

Great Photographers

The photos on the website were far and away better than the actual property. The room was smaller than expected and the hotel was older and more run down than the picture portrayed. Interior of room was small but clean. The hotel itself was a little overpriced, but so is Aspen in general.

Very good considering it is Aspen

Rooms are comfortable but not elegant. Registration lobby is very small. Upstairs great room is outstanding. Free breakfast is a great feature. Rates were high for Colorado but not for Aspen. Staff was helpful.

Great Hotel

It is a really nice hotel: friendly people, nice rooms, great location (very close to bus stops( Snowmass, Highland, Buttermilk, etc.)and downtown (2 minutes walk), airport shuttle was provided, DVD movie selection, complimentary breakfast was OK . Wine and cheese from 4.00 p.m.-6 p.m. was nice.

Rundown

The Hotel Aspen was run down with dirty carpeting and worn furniture. The outside need painting and the grounds needed maintenance. The desk clerk was inattentive and our check in took too long.

Satisfactory if Price is Right

Rooms are large and there are several noticeable and appreciated updates (high end bed linens, flat panel tv). Bathroom needed some maintenance (jacuzzi tub did not function, sink cracked, needs new paint). Biggest annoyance/complaint is that the exterior door has levolor blinds instead of a heavy, privacy curtain and, as a result, it was impossible to keep out the light from an exterior flood light at night. Wife and I both found the ambient light in the room very disruptive to getting - and staying - asleep. It felt like we had a 40w light on in the room. Resorted to taking a chair outside the next day and reaching up to unscrew the flood light. Big help, but still too much light comes into rooms with this "door-with-blinds-instead-of-curtains" feature. If the room is priced at a bargain, it is worthwhile. Otherwise, one-bedroom condos are better value in Aspen.
