Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 38Please shed a little light into these rooms!
The lobby is nice, but the rooms leave something to be desired. Very dark, makes you wonder what they are trying to hide. Any room that has TWO air purifiers makes you wonder... The TV is great if you like to watch snow. Maintenance came, saw, and couldn't fix. Staff is fabulous and made the stay bearable.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 38not happy
First and foremost, I am a business traveler. From all indications, this should be a nice hotel. It does have the foundation to build upon. But, there were a few things I did not like. When I got to my room, I realized that any hall-way noise was really loud in the room. When other patrons were walking by talking at normal levels, the noise seamed amplified in the room. I could also hear someone drumming in another room. I ate breakfast in the restaurant. Service was very slow and the food was not that good. I was under the impression that this hotel was downtown. It was not. It was several blocks from the main downtown business district (the elevated heated walkway system). Rooms were comfortable, but a little cramped. Bathroom was very nice. Overall, given a choice, I would stay somewhere else.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 9 of 38Gorgeous hotel
Hotel Arts was beautiful and sleek, very comfortable room, although the heater was a bit loud. Very nice amenities and in a central location in downtown Calgary.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 38Dark - Misleading Hotel
Hotel Rooms are way too dark and depressing. Disappointed in reservations for not informing me that the Hotel's fitness center is closed and Hotel is under major construction. Food at resturaunts is marginal and very expensive. Not worth the price or time to stay here.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 12 of 38Bad service combined with a very uncleanly room
We chose this hotel to stay for our last night in the Calgary/Banff area. After a great stay in Banff, we decided to spend our last day in downtown Calgary to get a feel for city. Our room was on the 2nd floor: Mold and grime in the bathroom, paint peeling off the ceiling, flies in the room, hairs in both bed linens, and a cold water shower before catching our 7AM flight. This is not an exaggeration! Complained to front desk, and they said would call me and refund half of my money. Never heard from them....called them 2 days later and was told it would be taken care of. To this day, no one has contacted me. The ironic thing, for a hotel that calls itself "Hotel Arts" and has a Arts inspired theme.....there was not a single piece of artwork in our room!! The furniture all looked second hand, scratched and damaged! Never bothered with writing a review of a hotel until this experience. I highly discourage anyone from staying here...it was a real let down to an otherwise great week in Alberta.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 13 of 38Very Friendly Staff
We stayed in luxury rooms - it was in the 12 story tower part which may have been better than the 3 story wings. The rooms were a nice size, but darkly decorated. Needed more lamps! Sliding glass doors to the street were quite sound proof. Staff was SO polite and helpful! Restaurants were amazing and highly rated locally. Decor was cool - kind of W-hotel-ish. Negatives: no fridge nor safe in the room, but the front desk had safes. Valet parking was a steal for Calgary $15 a day, when people pay up to $30 a day to park for work there! Only 4 blocks from great shopping and restaurants. Fabulous after work gathering around the pool/social scene. Construction on the property is building 7000 sq ft of retail/ballroom space - will be nice!
