Good, except for expensive breakfast and construction noise in early morning

Clean, very friendly staff, helpful with directions and eager to entertain my German speaking (though everyone I met spoke English). The breakfast downstairs was convenient, but hardly worth eleven euros. Also, there was construction outside my window which woke me up both mornings, so ask if construction is still going on or for a room away from the noise. Good experience, convenient, safe location.

Good hotel for the money

Hotel am Hostenwall is *not* a posh, resort, boutique, fancy hotel. But, it is close to the underground train line and a nice park. I feel this hotel was good for the price. The roof is still being worked on, but I didn't notice any noise since I stayed on the 1st floor. Ask for a lower floor.

Very Good Experience

Very nice location. About 1 km from the Messe, 3 blocks from the DOM carnival, with easy access to restaurants, including the one in the Hamburg Museum across the street. After 5 days, staff made me and my wife feel like family. Very nice breakfast buffet, run by an exceptional hostess. Note: Avoid the single rooms, as they are very cramped. Double and Queens are what you would expect. Plenty of room.

Nice hotel in a good location

The hotel was nice and quaint. It is very close to the harbor and to the St. Paulie area. keep in mind if you are looking for a local family hotel it is nice but not an international business hotel.

Good, clean hotel in convenient location. Very Small Rooms

Good enough for a few nights. Very small rooms, but clean and quiet. Had an early flight and while taxi was called as I requested, the front desk clerk never told me about the arrival of the taxi. Still, I would recommend this hotel to others for fair price, cleanliness, and convenience.
