Trip Type: Family Review 16 of 49Fantastic and Comfortable Stay
This was a lovely, clean and comfortable hotel with an exciting decor. The staff was helpful and the location was in the heart of the action. There is a great rooftop deck/bar that was a nice place to unwind with a book and drink. While the hotel was on La Ramblas we were not impacted by the street noise at all. The hotel is close to wonderful restaurants. Metro stops near the hotel made other areas of the city easily accessible.

The hotel was in a great location, right on La Rambla! It was clean and well maintained, although it did get a bit noisy at times (very thin walls). Great rooftop terrace that overlooks the city. Nice hardwood floors but room a bit small. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 18 of 49Lovely Hotel in a Wonderful Area
We stayed at Hotel 1898 for 3 days and had a wonderful time. It is right on the Rambla, but it is not too noisy. The hotel is clean and modern, with lovely decor. It isn't inexpensive, and the rooms are not large, but for a European resort, it is quite reasonable. There is a Starbucks next door, so you don't need the buffet breakfast, and there are many terrific and interesting restaurants nearby. Hotel 1898 is only a few minutes to the Barcelona Turist bus routes, and these are great for seeing the city. You don't get a view from many of the rooms, but if you want a hotel on the Rambla, it is great.

I always read these reviews and never write them, by this hotel is fantastic. Rooms are small but very cool. The entire hotel is immaculate. I spent more time in the basement grotto than I did seeing Barcelona!

Trip Type: Romance Review 21 of 49Hotel 1898 on La Rambla
This hotel was perfectly located in Barcelona. All of the personnel were knowedgable about restaurants and area attractions. WHen we needed taxis, they prompty caled one and made sure that we knew the cost before getting inside. Our room overooked a courtyard restaurant that got a little noisey at night, but it wasn't so bad that we coudn't sleep. The breakfast buffet was a itte pricey but had an outstanding variety of seectins and fresh foods. The afternoon tea is fun and relaxing at the end of a day of sightseeing and shopping.

Hotel 1898 is located in the heart of the Las Ra next to Starbucks. Large king bed with 4 different pillow softnesses to choose from. We had a corner room with lots of windows. Big bath and great towels. Tea and coffee maker in room.

Everything about this hotel was perfect; the location, the staff, the room size, cleanliness and amentities all exceeded our expectations. The rooftop bar/lounge was a great way to end an evening. Location was great with all of the local feel right outside the front door.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 27 of 49Great hotel
I was a bit nervous when we entered the lobby of the hotel - looked a bit "gothic, but the room was great - large bed, good pillows, great bathroom with a tub and very clean. Our air conditioning did not work, but after two tries by maintenance we had AC before going to sleep. The staff has good English speaking skills, and are very friendly. Loved the location...on a quiet side street just off Las Ramblas (major street where all the "action" is). Skip the 20E breakfast - several good eating places just around the corner from the hotel.

Hotel 1898 is a luxurious, beautiful hotel on La Rambla in Barcelona, easily located to see the sites on La Rambla or walk to the Gothic Quarter. Our concerns about noise on La Rambla were unfounded because all the public areas of the hotel are on the street side and the rooms in back. Our only complaint was, that after sleeping late one morning, there was no hot water in the shower. We heard another couple complaining about the same thing at check-out. We thought the hotel was a little pricey, but its location and condition were great.

The hotel is in an amazing location. The room was a bit small but not much different from a NY boutique hotel. I really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel 1898.

What a beautiful hotel! At the price we paid in the current hotel climate, my expectations were pretty low. But boy was I surprised - the hotel is an oasis in the midst of a very busy area, La Rambla, between Placa Catalunya and La Boqueria de San Josep. The lobby is beautiful and relaxing, with complimentary afternoon tea and cookies served every afternoon. The spa is fantastic - and the rooftop pool and bar, open till 10pm, offer beautiful views in all directions of the city and the surroundings mountains. Comfortable lounge chairs and sofas and a great, though a bit pricey, bar. What a delightful place to arrive to after our Mediterranean cruise. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
