When we arrived on our floor, we were nearly overpowered by an obnoxious smell! It was so bad that we held our breathe until we entered our rooms. Thankfully, the room was odor free. When I mentioned the smell to the Manager on duty, he stated that the smell was from a product they used to clean the wallpaper--But he did not offer to move us to another area.I can only assume the entire hotel must have smelled.

Very Friendly people

Room was nice, A little aged. But very friendly people and a free shuttle to the airport.

What you pay for

Homewood Suites is not a great hotel. However, its a decent hotel that provides good comfort and clean rooms at a good price - nothing more, nothing less. Everything is a bit cheap, but then again, everything feels clean too. I prefer a little nicer accommodations, but found myself in need of an affordable suite at short notice. There is nothing wrong with the hotel and though the quality is lacking, the hotel provides services and amenities that match the price. Overall I'm satisfied, but probably would want a slightly better hotel next time.

Location

Great location when going to a baseball game and the MOA. Light rail station is just across the street at MOA and takes you downtown to the game.

Overall happy

Overall happy with the hotel. Somewhat dissapointed with the pool. The shallowest part was 4 ft, our 4 year old daughters had to play on the steps because that was the only place they could touch-not very kid-friendly. Breakfast was great, very well kept hotel.

Great Place to Stay With Family

We stayed at Homewood for a family visit to Mall of America. The hotel went out of their way to accommodate our requests (even rearranging their rooms so we could check-in early to allow my young son to nap). It is so close to Mall of America we could walk with our young children or take the hourly shuttle. The shuttle drivers even drove us round trip to the local Target and Walgreens to pick up necessities during our stay. The bedroom and kitchen/pull out couch area are separated by doors so a child can nap in one room and we could watch tv in the other. Planes fly by the hotel quite frequently (which my son loved watching from the window in the room) but the noise from the planes is not bothersome. There are DVD players in the rooms. We would definitely stay here again.

very well maintained hotel

I was very impressed with my stay. The service at the front desk was knowlegable and friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. the only thing i wasn't impressed by was the TV, It's been a while since I've seen a console TV (but if that's the only thing I have to complain about then you are in good shape). There was a free dinner and breakfast as well which was very laid back and good. We went to a twins game and took the light rail which was accross the street and took us all the way downtown, works out really well and in a great location.

Overbooked

I paid for my suite in advance and when we got to the hotel to check in they claimed they overbooked the hotel and did not have a room for us. They ended up giving us a slightly larger room. We went upstairs and unpacked and were just about ready to leave for dinner when the desk called the room and asked us to switch rooms. That was very frustrating!!

Nice Stay

Our family of four stayed for two nights. All in all a nice stay. We really enjoyed our room and the hotel overall. There were some shady looking characters in the area, maybe from the 24-hour IHOP across the parking lot. We didn't have any problems, though. This hotel (like others at the mall) is near the airport and you will hear the air traffic.

Convenient, good value

Good breakfast included. Small dinner buffet included during the week, too. Good value. Convenient location for Mall of America and airport.
