Trip Type: Business Review 16 of 256Beware Loud Nightclub and Thin Walls
I read the reviews of this hotel before booking and no one mentioned that the hotel hosts a very hip, but very LOUD nightclub. The age of the hotel means that there is little sound proofing. I stayed on the 4th floor and could not sleep until the club closed... around 2:30 AM. The hotel's location is central to Hollywood Blvd. activities. The ambience of the hotel is very chic, with a "young Hollywood" vibe. The room was smallish, with a very comfortable bed, functional desk, and tiny bathroom. The staff was efficient and friendly. When I complained to the manager about the noise in the morning she was professional, sympathetic and resolved my issues immediately by contacting hotels.com on my behalf without any hassle. Bottom line- unless you are going to be AT the club until it closes, or are not bothered by excessive noise, think twice.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 18 of 256Great Hotel
Great hotel, great location. But in the end, that is what you paid for! My only advice for future guests is that the hotel hosts 2 bars open to the public on friday and saturday nights, including 1 at the pool (outside). Great when you decide to join the party but is a bit noisy (until 2am) when you would like to go to bed.

Trip Type: Romance Review 19 of 256New decor meets old Hotel
I got a the Cabana Balconey room for one night to have the Hollywood feel for my wife and I. The room overlooks the pool area. It had a very modern feel and design to the room. This room can get very loud at night due to the pool being a nightclub at night. Hardwood floors in room were in desprite need of refacing due to scratches, but I the room was very nice. parking is pricey at $30 per night put the hotel location is great you may not even need a vehicle. Hotel lobby is very nice and hotel keeps a drink mixoligist on staff.

Trip Type: Romance Review 23 of 256perfect hotel for a true hollywood experience
This hotel was in the perfect location for seeing Groman's chinese theater, the Kodak theater, and the walk of fame! Also, the pool bar had a great crowd if you are looking to have a good time. Prob not a good place for a family with young kids

Trip Type: With Friends Review 24 of 256They took our alcohol, even my birthday gift bottles!!
My friends and I came to the Roosevelt to stay overnight, celebrate my birthday, and enjoy the pool the next day. We stayed in the Cabana Rooms, one with a pool view (see my separate review) and a garden view (this review). I'll keep this review shorter. With the "garden view", it simply means no view and no balcony. The one good thing about it is this garden view comes with a cot-like seating in a private outdoor patio. However, we did not spend any time there since my friends had a balcony and we all had access to the pool. Our room had a dark and cold feel to it, especially when one of the main lamps was dead. We didn't bother to ask the hotel to replace the bulb. The bathrooms were obviously low budget. I didn't even want to take a shower (no tub) because the stall looked like a concrete cell with a shower head. The bathroom counter was a small platform with no room for our stuff and the tiniest sink bowl that I have ever seen. The water did not drain well in the sink. The only cool thing about the bathroom was the frosted glass door. I got bug bites while sleeping, so I think there was a mosquito in the room. The room had one king bed, no desk-like table, and one chest with 2 drawers. There was no couch or chair. If you read my other review, this hotel is too strict. At least, the Security Manager did have a bottle of white wine sent to our room after he had confiscated my friends' liquor out of their bags before the bellboy delivered them to the room!! They made my other friends check in birthday gift bottles which were in nice birthday gift bags (not paperbags), so I picked it up the next day upon check out. Needless to say, this put a damper on my birthday party. Lessons learned: Hide your liquor when going to the Roosevelt. I definitely would not pay full price for a room at the Roosevelt. Based on this experience, none of us will ever stay here again because there are so many more choices in LA with less restrictions and more fun. "Been there, done that

Trip Type: With Friends Review 25 of 256Too strict for my birthday party in the Cabana Balcony Room
My friends and I went to the Roosevelt for my birthday, thinking it would be fun and convenient to stay overnight and party at the Tropicana poolside bar. PROS: *Guests in the Cabana Rooms get convenient access to the Tropicana poolside bar without having to go through security. *I was originally told over the phone by the front desk that each Cabana room is limited to 2 hotel guests, but up to 4 people per Cabana room may have access to the pool. *There was no cover charge for my friends who came to visit us in our room in the evening. *There was no crazy line on this particular Saturday night in mid-August. It was not overcrowded, especially since there is so much space to mingle around the pool. *Plenty of seating (cushioned benches, not chairs) around the pool. *No drinking and driving; you can crawl back to your room from the poolside bar. *Lively pool scene the next morning with a live DJ, comparable to Las Vegas. *No cover charge to go to the pool even though you are not a guest. *No real line to get into the pool on Sunday. CONS: *Our poolside balcony on the second floor was too small and the hotel limits 4 people in the balcony at a time if someone complains, but that's about how many people can comfortably hang out. There is one small table with 2 chairs outside. The hotel security also told us that no drinking was allowed on the balcony. *My friends could not bring liquor into the cabana/pool area past the security even though they were birthday gifts in nice birthday wine bags, so they had to check it in at the lobby then I picked it up when I checked out the next day. *Bathrooms in the cabana rooms were horrible and cheaply renovated, one of my friends referred to it as a jail cell after she spotted a cockroach. I didn't even want to jump in the shower (there is no tub). Maybe the Main Tower rooms are nicer. *Most rooms only have one bed even though they advertise that two beds may be available. Worse, the hotel had a shortage of cots. The room was an

Trip Type: With Friends Review 30 of 256Great bars but clean, comfy room is showing its wear
I stayed here with girlfriends and was very satisfied. The room was clean and comfortable. But the paint on the furniture is chipping and it's not all that special, so it's maybe a step below what you might expect. But the beds were great and the common areas are beautiful. I loved the burger restaurant, Teddy's and The Tropicana Bar. I would recommend going to the Tropicana for a fun nighttime bar experience around the pool. However, both bars could use more bartenders. Service was extremely slow. The daytime pool experience was a bit of a disappointment. We tried to go to the pool on Sunday and it was packed. At 12 noon, there were 30 names on the list ahead of us for a lounge chair. I would recommend getting there very early if you want to sit by the pool. However, it's very loud with music blasting and filled with alot of non-guests who come for the party atmosphere. If you like that Vegas vibe, you will be happy. My friends and I were looking to relax with a cocktail around the pool. That will not happen on a weekend. But overall, it's a fabulous historic hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. There are absolutely NO issues getting in to the Tropicana/Pool if you are a guest.
