    My family stayed one night before flying out of Christchurch the next day. The lady at reception was extremely helpful and gracious. The grounds were nice but the hotel itself is a bit dated and drab. Our room was located on the 1st floor and viewed the inner courtyard area, nice enough, but all night long there was this loud droning of what sounded like traffic (but may have been the heating works) though we weren't right on the street. Thus, as a light sleeper I didn't sleep well at all. My young son loved the pool/spa area and spend a lot of time there. Overall, for the price it is more than sufficient and you get what you pay for, but if you're looking for upscale and quiet you'll be disappointed.

Location. The Holiday Inn on Avon Christchurch is located in Christchurch, New Zealand, three kilometers from the Botanic Gardens and one kilometer from the city center.

Hotel Features. The hotel, adjacent to the Avon River, offers a warm contemporary style. The lobby color scheme is white and brown with furnishings in subdued hues and splashes of brighter color from trees and flowers in containers. The hotel grounds include a courtyard garden. Amenities include a business center, and high-speed wired and wireless Internet access is available in public areas for a fee.

Holiday Inn on Avon Christchurch also offers Willows on Avon, the hotel restaurant, which overlooks the river. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and provides room service. Children eat for free from the kids menu when dining with an adult guest at this restaurant. Chatz Bar at the courtyard garden offers a selection of beers, wines and spirits.
