Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 218I would stay here again but...
The hotel was close to public transportation, clean and confortable rooms. The system was down when we checked in, and the credit card that we provided for incidentals was charged 2x. We have been trying to get this resolved for a week, to no avail. The staff is very couteous, but it is annoying to have a mis 100$ charge that you cannot get released.

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 218Poor Value
We booked two double beds in a non-smoking room and, instead, got a single king bed in a room that reeked of cigarette smoke. The free breakfast that they used to include with rooms as recently as a couple of months ago is no longer part of the package. The bed takes up almost all the floor space in the room so there's very little room to move around. The staff and other guests like to slam doors so hard the whole room shakes. The heater is VERY noisy but at least it works. The best thing about this hotel is the location - if you want to be near Chinatown. There is excellent subway access a block away along Canal Street. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of other hotels in the same area - so if you need to be in that location then your options are limited. If location is not important to you then I would advise looking elsewhere for a better deal. Yes, I know Manhattan is very expensive, but for the amount of money I paid I expected a room at least marginally better than a typical Best Western or La Quinta. What we got was much less than those mid-level motels.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 218Nice Hotel -- but my room was noisy
I had a really nice room; service was very good; however, my room was on a corner on the 5th floor, and the street was very noisy. Also I could feel the subway vibrate the room. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep. At least the bed was very comfortable.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 5 of 218Great South Manhatten Hotel on the Green Line
I am happy to say, I was very impressed with the staff at the desk. They were very polite and really want to help in every way possible. The room was somewhat small, but, remember, you are in NYC where I would imagine would be no larger at other hotels. The only thing I can complain about was on the day of sign out, the cleaning lady started knocking on my door, which seemed like she wanted to run me out. I could have solved this by putting out my Do Not Disturb sign. I don't really blame her. She wanted to finish her work on the floor. This never happened on the other days of my stay. This hotel is right on the Green Line that runs N-S through Manhatten and from it, you can make almost any other subway line easily. The bed and pillows were very good. I had good nights sleep. I read in other reviews that the restraunt downstairs had hotel restraunt prices. There is a new Duncan Donuts across the street. The hotel sits on the edge of China Town, Grenich Village and SOHO, so very convenient to live music and some great restraunts I never felt uncomfortable in the area, not being from NY. Very convenient to Ground Zero and the ferry to Statue of Liberty. The Ground Zero Museum is worth taking an hour to see. Really! I would suggest this hotel because it is not as crowded as Time Square or Mid-Town and only a fifteen minute subway ride away. You would want to stay here.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 218Not My Expectation
The quality of the lobby is totally out of line with the quality and presentation of the rooms. It was a great let down and the price I paid made it even worst. Would I stay there again? Only if I had no other reasonable choice.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 218Wonderful!
Service was wonderful. We checked in a few hours early and weren't in the room more than 5 minutes when we heard a tapping at the door. It was housekeeping bringing us a missing washcloth. For a variety of random reasons, most of our interaction was with the housekeeping crew and they were very helpful and made our stay very pleasant. The hotel and rooms were very clean, nice spacious room just a half block from Canal Street and all the $40 Rolex watches you could ever want.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 218Not worth it
Not worth the money I paid. The room smelled like mildew. It was located in a congested area. It took more than 30 minutes to get my car which was parked in valet. I've stayed in nicer hotels in NYC for cheaper rates, in nicer areas, less congested. I figured a Holiday Inn in SOHO would be worth it. I do not recommend this hotel.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 14 of 218Satisfactory
The room was very small but wasn't spending time in the room so it was fine. Good location to Chinatown and Little Italy and just a short cab ride to most other places in the city.
