Loss of Power

We were situated on the 4th floor when the power went out. The staff was nice and advised that the power would be back on in 15 minutes. It never came back on. We had no lights in the bathroom and could not see our noses in front of our faces. The hotel was close to The Bank Atlantic Center where we attended a concert. The area around the hotel was a bit scary. As a woman no way would I stay there alone.

Nice Room

I had a king size room and it was extremely comfortable. Entire hotel was very well maintained.

Great Room

I enjoyed my stay at Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites , The room was nicely decorated clean and comfortable. The hotel is also very close to the Broward Mall and Sawgrass Mall. My only misfortune at the hotel, was my inability to get the iron to work.

On a bad day

The hotel itself was beauitfully decorated and very clean. I loved the way it was layed out and the rooms were better than some higher end hotels I have stayed at. If you are going to be spending time in Miami, it is a little bit of a drive, but the area is nicer by far, and in my opinion worth the drive. The problem that I had was with the front desk staff. When we got there it was about 4 pm and we had been driving for about 5 hours. I wanted a shower and a nap. We checked, and they gave us our room key and we went upstairs. Our room keys did not work when we got there, but a mantainance guy was on the floor and let us in, and offered to get our room keys fixed. However that was not necessary considering someone was already in the room. We went back downstairs and the front desk clerk apologized and said she had written down the wrong room. She gaes us new keys with the right room number, but when we got up there the repair man was in the room with the door open working on the AC. He said that the room would be unavailable for some time. We went back down to the front desk and they again apologized, and upgraded us to a suite on the first floor. We get to our room, and yet again the keys did not work. At this point I was extremely mad, and my boyfriend went to the front desk without me. One of the ladies at the front desk came to the room and let me in and told me their key activator was not wokring and they would send my boyfriend with our keys shortly. He arrived about 10 minutes later with no ley. It still wasn'y working and they said they would send it along shortly. I understand these thigns happen and the suite they upgraded us to was beautiful. However, i my experience, the manger should at least come out to speak to us or call the room to make sure everything was going okay. We never spoke to the manager, nor ever even knew his name. The hotel was nice, but just to get to a room was a troublesome experience. They need new staff at their front desk.

Clean Room - Staff Sub-Par

The room was clean, but as mentioned on other comments....the air conditioner is within feet of the bed. While at Sunrise, I spent maybe 20 hours in 4 days in the room and needed the sleep from working all day. It did not help the air conditioner was a few feet away keeping me up. The last couple of mornings, the staff forgot shampoo in the bathroom. I called down to the desk at 7:10 and the front desk said "the cleaning staff is not here yet so you will have to come down to the front desk and get some." NICE!!!!

Noisy AC

A very nice, serviceable hotel for a short stay. HOwever, the AC unit was noisy and within 3 feet of the bed. Even a heavy sleeper would have trouble sleeping.

Needs improvement

The hotel is 30 years old and had problem with the pumbing and shower.

Not recomended/has potential

When construction is complete and both elevators are reconditioned (only one in service)hotel may be 3 star
