I stayed at the hotel for just one night. I arrived at the hotel at 11am, and they allowed me to check in early, which was a nice surprise. The room was clean, and of good size. The bed was comfortable, and also clean. The hotel is near the T, just a two block walk. The neighborhood is not the best, however, I wouldn't say it was bad at all. I felt comfortable walking around at 10pm. Overall, I'd say 3.5-4.0.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 3 of 9Going Downhill
I have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express Hotels and they have always been good in the past. So I was very surprised to find that the HIE Cambridge was so awful. The owners are clearly letting it go downhill and are not managing it effectively. Specifically: 1. Two light bulbs were out when we arrived to a two night stay. The desk said sorry, they don't have any bulbs to provide. The next day another complaint brought light. 2. The only public bathroom did not have toilet paper, soap or hand towels. I brought this to the attention of the manager. The next day the bathroom still had not been cleaned. It makes one wonder where the hotel employees who make the breakfast wash their hands? 3. We ran out of soap in our room. The response from hotel management, "We had some Thursday but it has all been stolen". 4. No one was authorized to make good on their "Service Guarantee". Messages to the General Manager has gone unanswered.

Free parking, good breakfast, great location. Right down the street from the T. The only issue we had with the comfort of the room was that the heat didn't work. We didn't notice until we got back from the bruins game and it was late. When we called the front desk they offered to have someone come up and fix it but at that point we were so tired from the game. So instead opted to have more blankets, which worked out fine. Would still recommend.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 9Horrible Service and Rooms
There were so many problems with this hotel, the thermostat didn't work properly so we were freezing and sweating all throughout the night. The refrigerator was old and made very loud grinding sounds throughout the evening, and the sink would not plug which made it hard for my boyfriend to shave. We informed the man at the desk about these problems and he said we would get some money back and to call the store manager. The following Monday we called her and she said there were no problems with the room (even though these things happened over the course of a night not instantly). The man behind the desk agreed about the problems. In the end, we didn't get the refund that we were entitled to. If I were you I would never stay at this hotel. The staff is rude and the rooms are sub par. In addititon, they charge the same prices as the hotels in Downtown Boston, and their location is not even in walking distance. Save your money, stay farther out.
