Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 71great location
location is what is most important when visiting SF. This hotel is perfect for tourists. We had tickets to Beach Blanket Babylon in North Beach and actually walked the 15 minutes to the theater. Right at the wharf, this is a great location.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 71Pricy, but great location
The location was great, but the rooms were too expensive. They were nothing more than a bed and small TV with NO VIEW! The picture they show online makes you believe it is likely to have a view of the bay, but NO... It is within walking distance to everything though. I think I would look for something for the same price with a view. It just seemed like too much to pay for a view of a brick wall. (We had 2 rooms and both were the same).

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 71Good hotel, but needs a few things
The hotel was in a good location, just a walk to Fisherman's Wharf, the streetcar, the cable car, the Amtrak bus station. The service was okay. They seemed a bit understaffed and stressed out, but we are always able to get what we needed. The pool was in the adjacent Holiday Inn. If you wanted to go to the pool, you had to walk a block over, which was a little annoying. We were awoken at 7am by people boycotting at the Hyatt across the street. It was very annoying. Obviously, our hotel couldn't do much about it, but they could have at least said something or given us something. The free breakfast was tasty, but understocked, dirty, and very crowded. The room was nice as is with most Holiday Inn Express hotels. I recommend the hotel for the location, but personally, I would probably go elsewhere next time.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 7 of 71Very Poor Value
We booked for six days in early September 2009. This hotel is not a good value for the money. On the positive side: Maid service and overall cleanliness of the room was very good. On the negative side: Room had a shabby and worn apperance. Front desk persons were rude and generally unhelpful. Included buffet breakfast was minimal in quality and selection. No variety from day to day. No amenities such as newspapers, mini-bar, etc.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 71This was a FABULOUS experience!
Didn't think I'd be staying in a hotel while in SF so found this hotel at the last minute. They allowed me to check-in at 8:15am on the day I was to arrive. What a BONUS! I had walked a few hills to get there, with all my luggage and was quite WARM. Was able relax in the room, crank up the A/C and cool down before heading to my all day conference event. The front desk staff was very courteous and professional. They helped with a computer issue in the business center and truly treated me like I was the only guest at the hotel. The comp breakfast in the morning was amazing as it always is at HI Express. If I'm in the Fisherman's Wharf area again, this hotel will be my first choice!

Super thin walls. I was woken up several times during the one night I stayed here just by people walking down the hallway outside my room. They weren't even that loud and I'm a pretty sound sleeper.

Pros: Nice staff, clean hotel, great breakfast and location. Nice to have internet access. Cons:Should have queen beds instead of doubles; parking fees are way too high.
