Old dated furniture

Overall, I was a bit let down with this hotel. The room was spacious enough, but the furniture was very old and really hurt the look of the room. I guess I expected a bit more for the money. The lobby was very small and gets easily crowded. The location was convenient to the T and casual dining spots. I did not explore the hotel fully, so I cannot comment on the amemities like the gym or restaurant.

Air conditioning doesn't work

Location great. Rooms nice. Air conditioning insufficient. On a hot, muggy day, the room is warm and musty smelling.

Great Location

Everything was great....the only complaints are that the TV was very outdated and the bathroom was poorly laid out. The door opened into the toilet and that was a little strange. This is more of an observation than a complaint as it didn't really make much of a difference. Location was absolutely perfect for anyone who hasn't been to Boston before.

Needs NEW staff

Holiday Inn just spent a lot of $$ to improve the hotel, so the hotel is great, but the lack of quality people running the hotel ruins the stay. Holiday Inn would have been better off doing the renovation else where.

Not worth the price

The bathroom door in the room did not even clear the toilet so you could not open the door all the way. You had to squeeze beside the toilet to close the door. I've never seen anything like that in a hotel! No cups in the fitness center even though there was water available (even asking to get some delivered). Long black hairs on the white comforter leads me to believe the room was not as clean as I would like. I wrote all these issues out and gave to hotel manager but never heard a thing.

poor room quality

for the $$$ we paid room was small and smelled very funky! Hair dryer gave off sparks when my wife tried to us it and coffee machine had no sugar or dry creamer packets. Beds hard but lots of pillows. Extra $$ charge for parking was a rip since it took valet over 1 hour to find our car!! Food was average hotel fare. Would not stay again!!

Clean and comfortable, good value

We stayed here for two nights over the Memorial Day weekend. (My wife and I plus two teenagers, ages 13 and 15) Overall, good value. However, be aware that the parking charge per day at the hotel is Not Included in the quoted room rate. The hotel is in a nice location and within walking distance to North Boston, Quincy Market etc. Once you are there, you can also take the "T" wherever you want to go. Boston is a great town. There is lots to do and see. Enjoy!

Great location

My husband and I stayed here because we had an 8 AM appointment at Government Center. We ended up having a nor'easter, so it was a huge relief to be only a 5 minute walk from where we needed to be. The hotel was clean, and the front desk and valet staff was friendly and professional. The room was a little small, but very clean.

there wasn't any soap!!!

This hotel was very disappointing. When we got there we discovered there was no soap in the bathroom, and not just soap- no shampoo, no lotion- nothing! (three small towels!) In twenty minutes a security guard came to our room and accused us of smoking, when in fact it was my neighbor! At midnight that same security guard came back and said that we were making too much noise- when we were ASLEEP! The room was too expensive for what we got and they never brought us our soap. This hotel was terrible.

OK but Overpriced

The hotel was adequate for a one night business stay, but my room stunk of cigarette smoke. The breakfast staff was friendly, but the quality of the food was average. Good location, but I thought the price I paid was too high for the value I got.

Excellent Location and Comfort

Situated just off of Cambridge in Beacon Hill, and very near the T station, the Holiday Inn is an excellent location for wandering through Beacon Hill or the Back Bay, reaching North End for some delicious Italian food, hanging out in Boston Common or traversing The Freedon Trail. I was concerned that the location adjacent to the Mass. General Hospital would mean constant sirens and continuous noise, but it was actually very quiet. The room is spacious and we had a nice view of the River and skyline; however the bathroom is quite small - I think you could soak your feet in the tub while using the toilet and brushing your teeth simultaneously. The daily buffet breakfast was fresh and filling, preparing you for a full day of walking through this beautiful city. Other than our daily breakfast, we did not dine at the hotel, as there are so many other appealing places nearby. The hotel is quite expensive, but the excellent location seemed to justify the cost.
