Trip Type: Family Review 17 of 170Great facilities, ridiculous add-on prices
We have stayed at a lot of hotels, anywhere from 3-5 stars. This was great in terms of facilities - pools, beach, lagoon were all fantastic, as were the rooms and shops. Service was so-so to pretty good overall. However, the prices at the restaurants rivaled The Four Seasons, which we stayed at on Maui. I can tell you, the food was not Four Seasons' quality. Do yourselves a favor and walk down the beach to the other great hotels - you will get much better food at prices that are far less. Or, if your budget allows, eat the the Halekulani or Royal Hawaiian - the same prices for food that is far superior. Skip the room service - the fees are astronomical even by island hotel standards! Go to the coffee shop up the street and get take-out instead. Also skip the $80 fee for 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella at the beach - walk down the beach 100 yards and rent them from the lovely stand in front of the next hotel - less than half price and much better service.

Trip Type: Romance Review 18 of 170outstanding hotel
This hotel had everything that you could need - great views, great beach, comfortable beds, and the price was very reasonable. It's a small village within itself - lots of stores right on the property, including a reasonably priced convenience store. It's also within walking distance of many great restaurants. Would recommend for couples as well as families.

Trip Type: Family Review 20 of 170Outstanding Hotel
The people at the Hilton Hawaiian Village were very friendly and helpful. If you did not want to leave the property, everything you needed was on site. I would highly recommed this hotel to anyone and when we come back to Hawaii, we would like to stay there again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 21 of 170Good hotel for families; not so much for those who left their kids at home
My husband and I took a much-needed vacation without the kids; only to discover that the hotel was FULL of kids! It wasn't a problem, it just made us miss ours. If you're vacationing with family, this is a great hotel. If you're looking to get away for a bit, it might not be your best choice.

Trip Type: Family Review 22 of 170Crowded but nice
When we checked in we were told that the hotel had been sold out since the new Paradise Pool opened in Feb 09. It was definitely crowded everywhere we went. The new pool definitely was a hit with our kids but it needs more lounge chairs. Arriving anytime after 10a you won't find an empty chair. Too bad the parking isn't included in the rate. We enjoyed the Friday night fireworks that the hotel has. The tower we were in was the most recently renovated so the rooms were nicely appointed and we had a view of the ocean from our lanai. The beds were a little soft but that's our only complaint.

Absolutely beautiful! LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. The hotel is situated in the heart of everything. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, the bed was so comfortable. It was more than I could ask for. The beach and lagoon was amazing. Our family was very pleased!!

Trip Type: Family Review 27 of 170It's a whole little village
I have stayed at the Sheraton and now the Hilton Hawaiian. I like the location of the Sheraton better. It was more in the heart of Waikiki...this hotel was a little off by itself more. You could just stay at the hotel...it is a village. Hotel was fine, just a little older than other hotels I have been to. Regular rooms are small, not like Vegas by any means. Overall, I feel that it was a nice hotel for FAMILIES. Our two kids loved it there.

Trip Type: Family Review 30 of 170Great hotel unless they overbook and put you in a hole. Say NO TO THE DIAMOND HEAD APARTMENT!
We really enjoyed the week we spent here at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. They put us in the Ali'i Tower, which was lovely and had a private pool and happy hour free appetizers. The hotel is generally well run and it was great for my little boy. He enjoyed his Keiki club outing. When we returned after some island hopping for our last night in Hawaii, we found that they'd overbooked the rooms and they put us a very rundown Diamond Head apartment. It was depressingly unmaintained, with a small room a.c. in the one bedroom but nothing to cool the living room where my little boy was to sleep. There was no screen on the door and no ceiling fan, and the street the window overlooked was a busy one. So we had fumes and noise coming in as well as some bugs. Not what we'd paid for, but we met some other guests who were also signed up for just one or two nights who were treated similarly. If they try to give you a Diamond Head apartment as a treat, say no and have them get you a room at another hotel immediately. They tend to overbook too much here.
