Hotel entrance always locked from the inside and out. Very inconvenient. Just make you feel very unsafe and spooky. Sometime there's no one at the front desk to unlock the door

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 3 of 23Great place to stay after a cruise
We stayed at this hotel after our cruise in May 2009. The staff was very accomodating, allowing us to check into our room at 9AM on the day we arrived from the cruise. The room was clean and the staff spoke perfect English. The bed was a little on the hard side, but some people like it that way. The only negative I can say is that you could hear people outside walking when you were in your room. It is not so bad unless someone gets in late and you are sleeping. There were only 3 or 4 rooms down each hallway, so the noise was tolerable. Overall a great hotel, especially for the cruiser that wants a hotel within walking distance from the shuttle dropoff for the cruise. Las Rambla was only 2 blocks over, and there were some great local restaurants within a couple of blocks as well. You can pay for a tour bus that takes you to all the great locations, drops you off, and allows you to catch buses running all day and the hotel offers a discount on this as well. The closest one to the hotel is where you get dropped off by the cruise shuttle bus. Overall a very safe and convenient location.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 23Great Location
Excellent location near port and Las Ramblas. Very convenient for cruise ship departures. Small rooms but price is right. Be careful of phone charges. Called 800# on calling card and was still charged excessive per minute fee.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 9 of 23Hesperia Del Port
I was with a group of people. We stayed in rooms 106, 109 and 603. Reserved months in advance for early Nov 2008 stay for only 1 night. Would've posted price paid, but Hotels.com doesn't allow it... Modern decor, good location, clean rooms, good breakfast buffet (great coffee), good water pressure in the shower if you're on a low floor, but not on a high floor. Space to move around the room is very limited, so it's good for short term stays, not for long term stays. TVs take a long time to come on, but they do have English-speaking channels. Remote in room 106 did not work and the TV was adjacent to the beds rather than in front of the beds. In-room safe is available, as is a mini-bar. Room 106 was a bit stuffy and warm, so we tried to lower the room temperature, but the AC didn't kick on or wasn't available (maybe b/c it's Nov?). Had to leave window open for fresh air - was a bit noisy. Bring earplugs and you'll be fine. Rooms 106 and 109 had views of back alley and neighbors' laundry lines. Room 603 faced main street, but window could not be opened - strictly for view.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 23good service, decent location
Our expectation was generally a place to sleep after exploring Barcelona all day. To that end it certainly met expectations. There were no serious problems, and we would return for another visit. Heating/Air conditioning, and hot water were all inconsistent. Hot water surges in temperature in a slow rythm, so it can go from comfortable to hotter rather quickly and unexpectedly. We had a breakfast one day which was good. It included European goodies such as sliced meats and cheeses, as well as I think American goodies such as scrambled eggs. An espresso machine makes your coffee fresh on demand. It's a little bit of a hike to La Rambla, and then into the Gothic district, and the first couple of times that was fine, but later it got a bit old. Consider the metro passes, they were inexpensive, and could save lots of repetitive walking. Although the neighborhood wasn't cleansed for tourists, we didn't see anything to be concerned about. It's a short walk to the Christopher Columbus tower. The staff did a good job of pointing out many of the tourist sights, and suggested some moderately priced dining areas.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 12 of 23Good room for the money, wouldn't stay long
Lobby was clean, helpful staff that spoke english. Room was small as expected. Very noisy, could hear everyone in the hotel and all noise outside of hotel. Did not sleep well. Bathroom had mold growing on wall and room was not clean. Floor was dirty and there were rings on top of the television from where a drink sat. Bed was hard however linens looked clean. We only stayed one night before embarking on a cruise. I would not recommend this hotel if you are staying for longer than one or two nights. However it is fine if you just basically need a place to sleep.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 13 of 23great room for the money
The only problem I had with this hotel is that they were doing some sort of constructio or repairs during the afternoon. We flew in to barcelona from the US and got in very early in the morning. We did the hop on hop off bus for a few hours and then went back and our room was ready. I wanted to take a little nap since we had plans for the evening. I couldn't sleep with the noise. then the construction finally stopped and then people were going in and out of their rooms and the doors really slam loud.
