Budget travelers

Well it's not the Hilton and ritz. But if just need a place to rest and sleep and in tight budget, I recommend this place. Good surrounding restuarants, and walking distance to the pier/ harbor. Overall good just good experience. Not fantastico but good!!

You get what you pay for

I thought this hotel was good for the money if your only getting one bed. You can get much closer to the strip in Gaslamp for the same money if you get 2 beds. The bad thing is no taxis would come get us which is not the hotels fault but can be an issue if your plan is to hang at Gaslamp. The hotel was kinda weird looking but the beds & bathrooms seemed clean & new so its okay for a cheap night away. The balconies are scary looking though. Broken window & old.

great room for the money

we were pleased with the hotel. no ice machine meant we went to the local 7/11 for ice but we had a refrigerator with a freezer in the room which was nice. we needed extra pillows and towels which they happily supplied. nice location, easy on and off the I5, comfortable walking distance from little italy restaurants....we would stay there again without hesitation. thank you.

Great Hotel

Very nice location within walking distance to city transportation. The room was a little small but very clean and neat. The staff was very helpful. Air conditioning was a plus. 1 block from little Italy which had plenty of nice eating. Very satisfied with the price and the stay.

For the price of this room it was not worth it at all. My main complaint would have to be the beds. They were just extreamly hard and my back is still stiff from it 3 days latter.

Exceeded Expectations

We needed to get a room at a last minutes notice to see our son in the Naval Med Center. We booked the room at midnight and arrived later that day. I can say that I was a nervous since I was not familiar with the area. Upon arriving the family that runs the hotel was extremely hospitable. In addition there was a large convention going on (comic con) and we had no problems at all during the night. They do a great job of managing the facility. The rooms were what I expected, clean and comfortable. When we left, we had standby tickets (we didn’t exactly know when we would leave) and the family had no problems with accommodating our special circumstance in regards to a late check out. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone who is visiting for their Marine recruit graduation or, heaven forbid seeing them at the Med center. There are plenty of restaurants (one block) within a very short walk from the hotel that will satisfy any taste bud, a 7 eleven on the corner, and Dominos pizza delivers to the rooms.

Great Location

This hotel was a great location in Little Italy, with many restaurants nearby and walking distance to Harbor Dr. It was even a short cab ride to downtown one night. The room was very basic and small. Only thing, the maid service the first day forgot to put in new towels and we had to go ask for some, but other than that it was a nice place and you couldn't beat the price.

Needs Improvement

Hotel was not what I expected the name is deceiving and there is no Harbor View. The rooms were not ready on time and they had a funny smell. The view we had was the dumpster and the airplanes flying above. Parking is free if you come in early if not you have to street park. Breakfast was not provided as mentioned. Would not stay there again.
