Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 32Needs improvement
Lobby is looking good and sets an expectation level that really needs to be readjusted when you enter your room. Beds are very uncomfortable.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 32Good, clean hotel in a good location
This is an older hotel but very nice. The service and food was very good. The location was very close to the train with shuttle services on a regular basis. I would stay here again.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 32Excellent Hotel
My wife and I stayed there for three nights in September 2009. Hotel and service were great. Hotel food was too expensive but there are many good eating places within walking distance. The walk down the hill and back to the train station and shops could be a little strenuous but should not be a problem for most people. We would definitely stay there again.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 4 of 32Great Stay!!
Very convenient location to Shinagawa train station. Just a 5-10 minute walk away. Hotel provides shuttle to station every half hour as well. Station easy to negotiate around compared to some of the more complicated stations in Tokyo. Comp laptops available for use in business center. Had unobstructed view of Tokyo Tower from our room so could see different illumination every evening. They offer a rebate voucher of 1000 yen for each day you agree to reuse the same towels day as an environmental incentive. Offered every other day of your stay. Saved enough to have buffet breakfast which was excellent as well. Very friendly staff who were all highly competent in English language. Complimentary umbrellas made available upon first indication of rain... Would gladly stay here again...

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 32Great room for the money
I wasn't real pleased with the location. Traveling up and down the hill everytime I went out became a bother. If this would have been the first hotel I stayed in during my trip, I suppose I might not mentioned this at all. Earlier in my trip, I stayed in Ikebukuro, and very much enjoyed that section of Tokyo and the proximity to the train station.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 32Beautiful hotel in a great location
The Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa is part of a complex of several hotels that surround a beautiful Japanese garden, a peaceful oasis in a very active neighborhood. Our room was lovely, service was excellent (the concierge was particularly helpful; she provided directions for the train system, various sightseeing maps, etc.). The hotel is located near the Shinigawa railroad station, a major hub for both Japan Rail (including bullet train routes)and private rail lines. There's also a limousine bus from the Narita airport that provides door-to-door service to the hotel. Overall, we were delighted with this choice.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 32Great Hotel With Great Garden Area
The staff is courteous and attends to your every need. The rooms are clean and well kept. We had a view of the garden area from our room. What makes this hotel is the garden/pond area attached to the hotel. It was great to walk around the garden in the evening.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 9 of 32Location and Value = Big Hit
The hotel is walking distance to Shinagawa Station, one of Tokyo's main stations. Easy access to Shinkansen trains or to the subway. Hotel is surrounded by a lovely garden and offers a good value for the quality and location. I stayed there twice on the same trip.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 32Great room
The hotel was a bus ride to the subway. You could probably walk but I'm a bit lazy. Staff knew english well. I would stay here again if I have to stay in the area.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 32Great hotel, comfortable room
The hotel is located within walking distance from JR Shinagawa station, so transportation to other destinations is easily accessible. The staff was polite, courteous and knowledge in English. The room was comfortable with a decent view overlooking the gardens below, but the air conditioning could be better because it seemed a little hot and stuffy in the room at times. Also, my roommate found some water that had been sitting in the hot water maker for a while, so cleanliness needs a little improvement. Overall, very satisfied with my stay at this hotel and will definitely stay here again in the future.

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 32Great value and First Class Hotel
First class hotel; staff was always courteous and helpful. We stayed for 5 days on our own after a 10 day tour. Considering the busy location of the area, it was very quiet and restful. It was convenient to the Shinagawa Train Station as well as walking distance to the Asakusa subway. The traditional Japanese gardens were beautiful and serene. We would not hesitate to stay there again as it was an excellent value.

Amenities, especially including the bathroom, were very positive. The room with king-sized bed was definitely worth the extra price. Once one learns the proper route, the entire city is just a short walk away.
