You get what you pay for..

The rooms are very small and simple but the hotel has a good location close to the metro. Also, the staff is friendly and helpful.

Not a hotel to stay in Paris

I have stayed in different hotels in Paris and by far this is the last place I would recommend someone to stay. Some comments that you may find useful include: Staff in this hotel were rude and not helpful at all. Hotel is not conveniently located. Although there is a metro line close by (5 blocks), you need to transfer at least 2 times to go to any tourist place in Paris. Breakfast was not included in the price(nothing wrong with that), but the charge for breakfast seemed to me outrageous for the food available (milk and orange juice).

Great experience

We spent 3 nights in this hotel. The service was excellent. The lady at the reception made everything to make our stay agreable, she gave us directions, tips to avoid traffic and all of with a great smile. The rooms are not spacious but everything was clean and the bathroom was spotless. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to spend times in Paris without worrying about spending a fortune on a room. If we go back to Paris we would definitely stay in this hotel.

Paris on a Budget with style.

Paris on budget is always tricky: How will the neighborhood be? Will the plumbing work. Do I have to walk up 5 flights? Where can I get something to eat fast and cheap? The Grand Hotel Nouvel Opera was a pleasant surprise at this price point with new plumbing and immaculate bathrooms. The twin beds where on the short side for my 6'6" travel companion but comfortable enough and the heat was adequate and the street quiet when we opened the widows. Next door there was a little provision store where a 2L bottle of Evian could be had for 1Eu. And on the short 200M between the hotel and the Metro Voltaire there are no less than 3 pastry/bread shops, 1 fruit stand, a Monoprix Market with quick take-away and even a McDonald's--a plentitude of choices to start the day--so we skipped the continental breakfast offered for and additional 6Eu at the hotel. In the opposite direction were a plenty of moderately priced and lively restaurants, pubs and clubs which got more touristy and one approached the Place de la Bastille. Great little shops too. The one sour note was the extremely fickle and annoying internet service which is "free" and worth exactly that--unless you take the elevator to the breakfast area off the lobby where the signal was strong enough. I would definitely stay again.
