    I stayed here for two nights. The first night I was given a room that had a small bed (for two people), no air conditioning and on the top floor. I had to request a fan and even then the room was hot. I requested a change of room the next day and they thankfully obliged. The room had a radio set that was really antiquated and a 20-inch Nokia TV that was at least 12-15 years old. I have never stayed in a worse hotel room and based on this room alone I would classify this as a two-star hotel, at best. The room the second day was better with air conditioning but still does not change the rating.

Location. The Grand Hotel Cravat is located in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, within 100 metres of the main shopping street and the cathedral, 150 metres from the old town, and one kilometre from the main train station. Luxembourg airport is eight kilometres away.

Hotel Features. Built in 1933, the Grand Hotel Cravat has a city centre location overlooking the Petrusse Valley. The lobby is light and welcoming with antique-style armchairs, ethnic rugs, a marble fireplace and impressionist-style murals depicting rural scenes. Multilingual staff can arrange express check-in and check-out, concierge services, currency exchange and airport transport (surcharge). Other hotel amenities include secure valet parking (surcharge) and wireless Internet access.

The Grand Hotel Cravat's restaurant Le Normandy offers the atmosphere of a grand, French ocean liner and serves French dishes. Brasserie La Taverne is frequented by locals and offers French and regional dishes, while drinks are served in the hotel bar Le Trianone, which has classic decor with leather, wood and marble.

Business facilities include a ballroom, banquet facilities, conference rooms, event catering and translation services.

Guestrooms. There are 61 air-conditioned guestrooms over seven floors featuring fireplaces, chandeliers and antique- style wood furniture. Expert Tip. There are many spectacular views in Luxembourg, but one of the best has to be from the Old Town. Perched high up, it overlooks the Alzette and Petrusse rivers and the Grund quarter. Just a few hundred metres along a curve in the river Alzette, it's a mix of town houses and old workers' quarters.
