Trip Type: Special Event Review 2 of 33decent hotel, good location
Nothing great. Lobby is nice, but some rooms have jail-cell like windows. beds weren't great. Bathroom fixtures need work. Service is ok. Overall a C grade. get the business club room for cocktails (2 free a night) , otherwise look elsewhere. Didn't eat the food, except breakfast in the club. The business club has an passable continental breakfast.

The hotel was a good pick for my first time in Monterrey, NL. Their food was typical hotel food. The pool was small, but then again the hotel was built in 1912. The hotel was very clean. I booked an executive suite and, because of the hotels history, will recommend it to my friends. Good buy. Also, our taxi driver told us we made a very good choice, bless his heart. The hotel is one block away from a shopping strip composed of many Mexican shops and local restaurant. The surrounding area was very old and outdated, but the location worked out because its one block away from the Marco plaza and couple museums. Save us some taxi money. We ended up walking the plaza until the Mexican Museum of History and then riding the St. Lucia riverwalk to an Art park. Very nice. If you are looking for an update area see the Valle Oriente area.

The hotel eventhough has been in Monterrey for many years, has kept it's elegance and great service. I love the location because you can walk to restaurants, sights, stores, etc. Everybody is willing to make your stay comfortable. We asked for more pillows and ice and got them immediately. The restaurant has great service and food. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Monterrey.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 33The nicest hotel in Moterrey, MX
The Ancira is known as the best place to stay in Monterrey, and I do not dispute that, plus the rate quoted from Hotels.com was great. It was a very good deal. It is a first class place at the center or town, easy to walk anywhere, good food, friendly and comfortable. I will say, however, that if I had a complaint it is that the room was a little small. Overall, Ancira remains the gold standard in Monterrey.

The room and service are great but the only thing that I was not pleased with was the very small bathroom that I had in my room. it was very tight. that is all everything else was fantastic.

The hotel its self is renovated, but alas, it is in Mexico, so don't expect it to be a ritz carlton. The staff is amazing though. Every one was very helpful, and cheery. Especially the bar staff! They were very fun, and it looked like locals liked to go to that bar as well (bar 1900). Also the canaries in the lobby are very cool. Make sure you stay on the executive/plaza level. It is worth it with free breakfast and two (actually how ever many they want to give you) free drinks in the evening. Cool hotel
