Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 15great room for the money
There was a problem one day with no hot water. Sometimes one of the elevators was not working. Because this hotel is used by several travel groups, this made getting an elevator problematic. I found the hotel very comfortable. The location right across from the beach was great. The buffet was excellant. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 15It's a good value
The standard room is a bit small as others have written, but it was modern, had most coveniences and was clean. The twin beds were typical but comfortable. We are tall. A very heavy person might find them narrow. The staff was exceptionally helpful, pleasant and accomodating. That part of our experience was very different than that of others. Overall, a good value in a great location. Not appropriate however for those that feel they need a large room or views.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 15Great for the money
One elevator was out of commission off and on throughout our 5 night stay. One morning we had NO hot water for a shower. The buffet was very good with a large variety to choose from. Staff was helpful. For the money, it was fine.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 15look and stay elsewhere!
The Golden Tulip Regente is well located. However, we do not recommend staying there. Upon check-in, we were "upgraded" to a "superior" room. This room was next to the elevator shaft in the rear of the building and had one window which looked out to a brick wall about 10 feet away and was under a walkway bridge to the adjacent building. It had been recently painted and the paint fumes were so strong that the window had to be left open all the time - it was over 90 degrees outside. Only one elevator was operating (the other had a sign posted on the door that it was undergoing maintenance). We were on the 10th floor. It was usually a ten minute wait for elevator. In the morning we waited almost 15 minutes and walked down. This hotel appears to be geared toward large tour groups. Despite a 3pm check-in time the bell hops were delivering luggage to rooms between 11am and noon - (check-out time for the rest of us!). To do so, they filled the elevator with luggage and stopped and held the one working elevator at each floor as they unloaded and delivered luggage to each room. When the elevator stopped at out floor (10th floor) they told us we would have to wait until they were done. We had already waited 20 minutes and would have walked down but we had luggage and the stairway is a winding staircase. Expression of our dissatisfaction with the hotel fell upon deaf ears. We strongly suggest staying elsewhere.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 15Great room and service.
Your hotel was great the only problem was that they recommended some tours to The Corcovado and Sugar Loaf. Unfortunately we paid to have the DVD of this places and when we arrived home and wanted to see them, nothing came up. We were expecting to see ourselves in the movie, since there was a lady taking all the pictures at all times. I think that your employees should not recommend these irresponsible people because we paid 90.00 for one DVD and 65.00 for the other and got no pictures. Except for this inconvenience everything went fine. Your employees are very nice and helpful. We enjoy our stay in your beautiful country. We hope to go back with the rest of our family. Happy New Year!

Decent price for a hotel right on Copacabana. Hotel rooms are decent sized and the staff attempts to accommodate guests. Would stay again.

We arrived exactly at the check in time however the room was not ready, a guy in the front desk just let us know that we can not use the room for a while, no apologyzes, no smiles, nothing. Sowe HAVE to wait arrounf two hours for the room. Taking this consideraration we asked for late checkout and the limit was 2 PM..no more.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 13 of 15Its OK.
The Luxor Regente is just ok...Nothing to write home about. It is clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. My view was terrible! You should request a room with a view of the beach. In general would recommend staying in Ipanema rather than Copacobana.
