Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 191don't let the price fool you
this is an operating museum, casino, hotel, and a very good restuarant. the only way to get the incredible prices is through hotels.com but the hotel is worth much more than the price of the rooms. It has been recently renovated and a good job they did. all the amenities of the other hotels in slightly smaller rooms in a 1906 hotel. very friendly staff, this is a wonderful alternative to the pick-pocket strip hotels. Don't wait to book, this place is usually too full to add a day once your there.

Felt like a giant in the hallways and room. Room is small but decor was ok. Front desk was very friendly and the location on Freemont street was very good.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 191NOISE, LLLLLOTS of NOISE
Knowing it is the oldest Hotel in Vegas didn't bother us. We thought quaint, reminded us of small Hotels and Hostels we stayed in Europe. BUT the noise was unbelievably!!!! We stay on Freemont every time we come to Vegas, we try a different Hotel every time. So far this is THE only one I wouldn't recommend to ANYONE. Fix the windows to keep out more noise and hot air and we might reconsider. Nice that they are probably original but unrealistic this day and age.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 191think twice
I read the other reviews about the noise, thought how bad could it be...BAD. I expected some noise hey, it's Freemont St. but man oh man!!!! till 4 in the morning music & people yelling. At 6 am the garbage truckSSSS started "NOTE the SSSS's cool to cold showers, it was quit the discussion in the elevator among the other guest in the Hotel. Quant and old it reminded me of small hotels and hostels we stayed in Europe. We are usually pretty tolerant. Won't stay there again even for 20 $ a night!!!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 191Hidden Gem in DT Las Vegas
Most of the cabbies in Las Vegas had no idea the Golden Gate existed because it's so small... don't let that fool you! The hotel may seem like nothing until you step into your fabulously remodeled art deco room. The walls, the headboard, the furniture- all beautiful, even the framed pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra were stunning. The bathroom was roomy and nicely appointed with Neutrogena products- I was actually excited to take my shower! The Bay City Diner downstairs had THE best breakfast I'd had in Vegas and it was, by comparison, dirt cheap. Also, I totally dig the music they have running through the restaurant and the casino. I'd say if you want to visit Old Vegas, give the Golden Gate a try!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 6 of 191Great Value
For the price, you cannot beat it. If you want a place to sleep and set your belongings it is perfect, but I would not recommend it if you want to hang out in the room. We leased two rooms one was small the other was medium size.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 8 of 191100 years + old
Everytime we would go to Vegas, we always had to go here for the 99 cent shrimp cocktail. Always wondered what the rooms would be like. Now that I have stayed here, I don't think I'll ever stay anywhere else. I like historical hotels, and although this one wasn't all that unique or special, it was clean and convenient for a Downtown stay. The shrimp cocktail has gone up to $1.99 but when you get a players card at the hotel, you still can get it for 99 cents! It was great to drag back to the room at 3AM and get my shrimp cocktail on! They also have a great diner there where I had breakfast. The waitresses were really old and called me Honey. You can't get any better than that!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 10 of 191Get what u pay for
Hotel was what u expect for the oldest in LV. Rooms were small and unclean. I could lay in the bed and easily open the door without getting up. House cleaning started @ 7am and u could hear everything. Good if u r going on a budget, but would not stay there again. Seems there is 100 yrs. of smoke in the casino also...

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 191Could be more understanding
Do not get a room on the top floor unless you want to be awakened by housekeeping at7:oo a.m. Maybe they assume everyone goes to bed in Vegas at sundown.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 12 of 191Clean, nice, cheap, no hassles, just right
Clean hotel, easy check in, valet close, small room405, but had everything you needed. TV coffee, ice cold AC, and no resort fee. Small than normal room size, just enough for 2people no more, could be noisy and bothersome to a few if you get room facing show side. Well stay again, become a players club member and get the famous 2 shrimp cocktails for 99cents each.
