Trip Type: With Friends Review 17 of 54UNDER CONSTRUCTION REMODELING BUT CHEAP! PEOPLE ARE SUPER HERE!
As per the reviews and site before we purchased our stay at the Spike, they are remodeling and enlarging the hotel. It's true most of the rooms are outdated and in need of repair badly, but they are dirt cheap. Our room was clean and our house keeper Lenore was fantastic! The casino has been remodeled but the only thing we really didn't care for was all money is handpay,so you have to wait to be paid in person, even for a nickle.Be sure to say hi to Eugene on the floor he is also a Super nice guy! The people there make up for the outdated rooms and construction noise.Super service. The food in the newly remodeled grill is great and cheap! The waiter Ray is Superb. They also opened the new bar area on Superbowl Sunday or about then.I've been coming to the Gold spike for years and I love it here.We will be going back for sure.

Trip Type: Family Review 18 of 54Great room for the money as well they have a great restaurant on the premises
Our stay was excellent. The beds were comfortable. The maid service is immediate upon your request and they are very friendly and courteous. We know the hotel is being renovated, but for the price and location it was excellent for our needs. Their restaurant the Golden Grill serves a very reasonable and large breakfast with a large amount of ham and eggs with potatoes and toast for only $3.99. Their prime rib special is outstanding for a 12 ounce cut only $4.95. This value is the cheapest in Las Vegas. The service at the restaurant is outstanding as well as the food. I would say this hotel is one of the best values in town.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 20 of 54Renovation work in progress
I wasn't expecting anything great when I made the booking, but I wasn't complaining as the price I paid was a steal. But after getting there, a couple of things made me have second thoughts. 1. The hotel is still being renovated, the work is still far from over. 2. I booked two rooms, one was good but the other had the stench of smoke and evidence (on the carpet and bedding) that the room was a smoking-room. We even got a room change, but still no luck. My only complain is they should have provided us what was promised. A non-smoking room is not the same as a room which is 'converted' to a non-smoking room recently. The carpet and curtains are clear give aways as the smoke/smell stays after the smoker has left.

Trip Type: Business Review 22 of 54you get what you pay for
the price was right, but, the hotel is a bit difficult to get to because of the construction. the parking lot is small, the room was dirty. like i said, you get what you pay for. i would recommend the hotel to those looking for a great price.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 23 of 54A story to tell for life
I wish I could include the photos we took. Mold around tub and toilet. Mold on walls, wall paper hanging off walls, holes in walls. Bedding was torn. Very out dated decor. Jack hammers at 8AM. No TV remote. I do believe they are in the process of remodeling so maybe it will be nice in a few months, but for now remember you get what you pay for.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 25 of 54You get what you pay for
I lived in Las Vegas for many years so i knew the Gold Spike was a sketchy hotel with a sketchy neighborhood. I was in visiting friends and it was a buddy and myself staying there so it was fine for our needs. I would recommend this hotel if it is the cheapest on hotels.com and it is for someone that is ok with being in a sketchy hotel in a sketchy part of town.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 28 of 54Needs Improvement badly
They are in the process of remodeling and have made a mess of the place. It smells bad. They do not have enough remote controls for the televisions in each room so if you check in late you will not get a remote control for your television.

Small casino-hotel. Location gets seedy at night time and sometimes seedy characters inside casino. No undercover parking so your car and anything inside will boil in the Vegas summer heat. Cute table girls. Good value if you do not pay much.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 30 of 54Under construction.
The room was yet under construction, and as a result, the floors and carpets unkempt, there was a sheetrock dust-storm in the room which made me sneeze all night, and the overall appearance was quite disappointing. The hallways leading up to the room were in such a ramshackle condition. There were white footprints leading up to my door and into my room from workers who had been there prior to my stay.
