Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 243next till i'll spring for a hotel
great location, two blocks from the subway and 3 from central park. looks good from the outside. Looks nothing like the pictures! little 8 by 8 room with no space for anything else. but for the rate we paid what should i have expected. next time i'll spring for a hotel.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 243Better than expected - clean room, good location
We were more than satisfied with the hotel, as the room and also the bathroom were clean and in good overall shape. Honestly, we expected it to be worse. Of course you should not expect too much, but this hotel is absolutely worth the money, especially in NYC. Location is okay as well, there are some nice restaurans in that area and it takes only 20mins to go to downtown Manhattan (MTA, red line 1,2,3 from 96th street). We'd definitely recommend this place.

I rented a single room with shared toilet and bath. The room was ok but there were big holes in the floor linoleum where the bed had been. Also I would have to push my bed from the wall when having to use the power plugs. I spent a week there and there was no cleaning in the room during my stay. The toilet and bath was fine but there were no soap or towels - you had to bring your own little piece of soap and if you left it by the sink it would dissapear. They only have internet in the lobbey and it only works half the time which was very annoying. The staff was nice and helpful and there is a possibility to store your luggage there in an unlocked room for free.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 9 of 243no heating
My one night stay at the Fresh Hotel/Hostel was very calm and quiet. The room I was given was very clean and seem to have new carpet. The only draw back was there did not seem to be any means of heat. My one night stay was very cold, but the extra hot bath I took in the morning was fantastic! This hotel/hostel had very clean bathroom facilities. I stayed on the 6th floor.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 243okay for the money in great area
somehow checked into one hotel to be told to walk through another building to a place called The Candy Hotel...freshly painted room with only one overhead light and no place to hang anything..loud steel doors that banged...in desperate need of a make over but that's what you get for the price..so enjoy nyc and spend your money staying away from the room as much as possible

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 243Great lodgings, bad bed
The Fresh Hotel and Hostel is an excellent place to stay if you're looking to crash Manhattan on the cheap. The rooms share bathrooms suite-style and, while spartan, are perfect for the kind of person who's looking to explore the city instead of stay in the room. Our bathroom was spotlessly clean. The room was clean and well-maintained. The only drawback we experienced was a very firm, very unforgiving mattress. If you decide to stay here, bring your own towel(s) and a sense of adventure!

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 15 of 243You get what you pay for..
I went to NY and I didn't want to spend a lot on a place to stay. This was good for the price. You share a bathroom with the other rooms and if you need a towel you have to ask at the front. TV did not work. A few things were off. The point is if you need a place to sleep and shower for little money, this does the job.
