Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 10Good Experience Overall
The hotel was good. Our room was very comfortable and big. The pool area is very nice. From the outside you can tell the hotel is old but once you walk in it's pretty nice. It IS right in front of the beach, contrary to what other reviews have suggested. It's a great place to go with kids and it's very close to many beaches so you can always go visit some other beaches during the day. The food was good (although we only had breakfast there). I had a great experience and for the price i would recommend it to anyone.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 10Flamingo ruined my wedding
I must say, the staff is awesome. They try so hard to make every guest happy, even when things beyond their control go wrong. I had my wedding booked at this hotel and they forgot to order my flowers, arch and torches (for a beach wedding). I have yet to receive a refund for the flowers, nor any compensation for my ruined wedding.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 10Pretty Good - Staff Communication Needs Improvement
The hotel was pretty good overall, stayed there twice in a week. Very nice pool area and right next to great beach, probably one of the nicest beaches in terms of sand quality in Costa Rica. The only problem was 1) The rooms on the first floor, where we stayed during our first stay were horrible, smelly, dark dungon type rooms. Knowing we were coming back later in the week I tried to communicate with the front desk that we did not want a basement room for our next stay. They said they couldnt guarantee any room assignments and that the person who assigns the rooms does it the night before in a random style. We ended up getting a non basement room for our next stay, very nice room. If we got stuck in the basement again I probably wouldnt be writing this positive review.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 10Total Disappointment!!
I really try not to be too critical.... but this place was a complete disappointment and I'm hoping to spare someone else a bad experience. Here were the negatives: As another traveler pointed out, there was a bad smell in our room as well- actually, the whole lower level hallway smelled bad.... moldy, or septic problems?? There was a leak somewhere in the bathroom that would run out into the room. Each night we'd return to a puddle of water in the floor. Two of the 3 nights we were there, the bathtub drain didn't drain well, and water backed up in the tub while you showered... Yuck! Oh.... and be prepared NOT to have towels replaced each day. If you call and fuss, you'll eventually get them. As far as room comforts go, the bed sheets were old, worn, and scratchy. No blankets were provided, so you only had a thin sheet and the bedspread to cover up with. When we checked into our room, I noticed that the clock wasn't working..... it wasn't plugged in. When I went to plug it in (so we could use the alarm) I discovered there wasn't an available wall socket. In order to use the clock, we had to unplug the bedside lamps. Finally, be warned that the hotel is waterfront..... in a strange sort of way. There's actually a dirt road that runs between the property and the beach. Tourism vans and the general public drive through the area and park on the street. Don't look for beach chairs either... there are none. So, be prepared to lay on the sand ... which isn't white as in the pictures. The only good things I have to say is that the pool area is beautiful, and that security seemed to be adequate. We only had one meal at the resort (breakfast), which was OK. We booked a horseback ride along the beach for 2 hours- the cost was $45.00 each. The next day we took our rental car and went to Fortuna........ a canopy tour and horsebackriding for $50.00 each..... for 4 1/2 hours. The tours aoffered at the hotel are too expensive! Take my advice and stay somewhere else... the pri

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 6 of 10Room Condition and Odor
The room we were assigned had an odor that permeated our clothing and suitcases. Everything had to be cleansed and aired out when we arrived home. Although we had 2 separate reservations for a total of 4 days, the front desk staff would not assure us that we had a room from day to day, or that we could stay in the first room we were assigned.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 10Nice Beach Hotel
A very nice place, particularly for families. Elegance without the price. Nice pools, very good food, beach access. Only concern is that there isn't much to do around the hotel if you enjoy off site activities. There was also a lot of nearby construction going on at the time.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 10Great room for the money
We were disappointed that they did not have an iron in the room. We had to wait awhile for them to find an iron and ironing board. We also had to ask for wash cloths. The maid would forget to replace! I would return again, it's a great room for the money!
