    We wanted somewhere that was no more than one or two hours from Jacksonville, and we wanted to be on the beach. The Emerald Shores Resort hotel was in our price range and location. Although it is nothing fancy it is clean, comfortable, peaceful and quiet; which is exactly what we were looking for. The only negative comment we had was the continental breakfast needs improving and the complimentary toiletries was not sufficient (lucky for us we brought our own). But inspite of all that we would return as guests, the staff was courteous and friendly.

    We stayed over this past Labor Day weekend. Very nice hotel. The room was very clean and the hotel is kept up very nicely. This hotel is located south of the the main downtown area. This was a plus. We were not subjected to all the nonsense that goes on down there. We really enjoyed out stay.

Location. The Emerald Shores Resort in Daytona Beach Shores, Fla., is located next to the Atlantic Ocean and two miles north of Dunlawton Bridge. The resort is three miles from Daytona Beach Pier, four miles from dining, entertainment and shopping at the Ocean Walk Village and within five miles of Daytona International Speedway. Daytona Beach International Airport is eight miles from the property. The hotel provides airport transportation for a fee.

Hotel Features. Built in 2004, this nine-story hotel features a lobby in tranquil shades of cream and white with glass-topped tables accented by tropical greenery. Desirable amenities include a pool, a jetted tub located on the oceanfront and a game room. Corporate needs are met with meeting space, complimentary wireless Internet access and business services.

Guestrooms. The 85 well-appointed and spacious guestrooms feature designer furnishings, blue-gray carpeting, tropical print bedding and wood furniture. Oceanfront rooms offer floor-to- ceiling windows and a private balcony with views of the Atlantic Ocean. Rooms with a city view are available as well as suites with full kitchens. Each room includes cable television and a large bathroom with granite countertops. Some units feature kitchenettes and coffeemakers. Please note: All rooms and suites are nonsmoking.

Expert Tip. Guests "climb with the keepers" of the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse, Florida's tallest lighthouse, just four miles from the Emerald Shores Resort.
