Eastern And Oriental Hotel

This is probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in and was definitely the highlight of being in Penang (and one of the highlights of Malaysia generally). The staff were incredibly helpful and allowed us to check in at 8 am. The (seaview) suite was extremely roomy and nicely furnished and worth much more than what we paid. Meals (both the buffet and room service) were reasonably priced. The size of the suite (and two TVs) make it great for families, but we did feel a little uncomfortable having our extremely excited 2 year old in the pool. Everything was so peaceful at the poolside until we came along, and we were constantly trying to calm him down to keep the peace! So, for people with young families - maybe don't expect to be able to relax around the pool too much! There is a good childrens park within walking distance (at the Esplanade). If I am ever in Penang again, I wouldn't look twice at another hotel. It would be hard to beat the charm and comfort of this hotel.
