Driftwood Beach Motel

Great View Private Balcony

I was discouraged the first time I stayed at this hotel, but we did like the view and private balcony, we had a much better stay this time, the room was cleaner, and the 3rd floor was much cleaner and smelled better, we love the view and it was quiet and friendly. It is an older hotel, so u have to keep that in mind.

hated Driftwood

besides barking dogs running around without leashes, upon entering the room, the smell was horrendous, the bathroom was dirty, not cleaned around toilet, carpet sticky, made white socks black on bottom. Under beds was trash, so you can just imagine they dont clean the bed spreads. Nobody in office, and had to check in at another hotel a block away. No answer at front desk so couldnt get more towels, or complain about dogs barking at night and in morning. Nice view but thats it.

Do not stay at the Driftwood

It was totally gross. We were totally disappointed. The room smelled so musty that I was nauseated. There was mold on the walls, the bathroom was filthy, and there were rust colored stains on the bedding. When we asked to move to another room, the tried to charge us extra, and gave us a very hard time, but eventually we were moved. Still, the pool had cigarette butts in it, and the maintenance man was the only one that we saw smoking. Absolutely disgusting, we will never stay there again.

ON the Beach

The hotel has a great view and great location and nice pool area ; not lit at night though not even in pool but that is where it tops out. 2nd story balcony was flooded from AC or rain or both no drain, about 30 dead flies on window sill of room and carpet was kind of sticky waxy feeling definitely old. I have pictures too. If you are going for a quick trip and on a budget its ok but for longer than 3 days or if you are with wife kids etc I recommend somewhere else. I was there to surf and go to islands of adventure so I used it for sleeping only but bring sheets pillows towels etc but I do that everywhere as a general rule though Florida has taught me that. SO if you are a Surfer or budgeter its OK

Deal for the buck!

This hotel was no hilton but it was a great place to stay. The view was out of this world!

the room

the hotel is not that bad of a place. its just an older motel. the beds are real hard. but we actually slept pretty good. of course it could of been because we were at the ball feilds all day with my daughters softball team. but overall not to bad for the money and it is on the beach.

Cheap, Loud

Pros: Cheap, room itself reasonably clean Cons: Loud - creaking wood floors cause you to hear people walking & moving furniture above, below, and beside you, all through the night. Balcony "furniture" ($5 plastic chairs) too filthy to sit on. Windows likely hadn't been washed in more than a year. Office & Breakfast located at a nearby motel rather than on site.

dirty, moldy, air vents

very nice service people and very nice manager! the hotel was neat but the vent was extremely moldy dusty, I had severe allergy attack.

Too exspensive

For the money we thought the room would be bigger, have an iron, shampoo and other things it promised on the web site.
