Loved the location. The main pool with slide was closed for repairs but they had a smaller pool open for our use. Towels and sheets were clean but stained. Beds & bedding need to be upgraded. Our daughters' bed made noise whenever they moved or rolled over. The room was serviced by housekeeping when we had a privacy tab hanging from the door. On the good side, for a family hotel in the WDW resort, it was nice and quiet. We could barely ever hear the people beside us or above us. Housekeeping always made cute decorations out of the towels (mickey ears, swans, etc.) and left plenty of toiletries. Parking was fairly convenient to the room and there were lots of other fun things to do on-site (boat rental, bike rental, fishing, etc.) For the rate and location, we would stay here again.

I fully expected to find a tired room in an older facility, but was pleasantly surprised. The rooms had double beds that were comfortable, despite the fact that the staff never seemed to be able to tuck in the sheets at the bottom. The bathrooms were serviceable, nothing fancy with the toilet and shower in a separate room from the double sinks. The sinks were separated from the bedroom by a curtain allowing the area to be used as a dressing room, something I found useful. The onsite restaurant is comparable to a hospital cafeteria but there are loads of other places to eat on the Disney property, so not to worry. The rooms all have unstocked fridges so you can bring your own beverages and save money. The best way to downtown Disney is the riverboat which leaves every 10 minutes, but you must take the bus to other sites. Disney Express can be used for free to and from the airport but they require a 3 hour departure window and 24 hours notice. Taking a taxi is $53 and takes only 22 minutes, worth the extra money if you want to stay another hour or two. The grounds and pool are lovely and well maintained. Stay in the Magnolia buildings as they are the nicest on the property.

Location. Disney's Port Orleans Riverside is located on the Sassagoula River in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. This resort stands one mile from Epcot, and two miles from the Downtown Disney area.

Hotel Features. Disney's Port Orleans Riverside is inspired by Louisiana's southern charm and Mark Twain's vision of life on the Mississippi River. A paddlewheel churns alongside Boatwright's Dining Hall which serves breakfast and dinner, and specializes in southern dishes, steaks and seafood. The Riverside Mill offers quick-serve stations that prepare everything from pastas to burgers. This eatery houses a country market stocked with "grab-and-go" items. River Roost lounge provides fireside seating and serves evening appetizers and refreshments. Sassagoula Pizza Express offers room-delivery pizza. A three-and-a-half-acre outdoor pool complex known as Ol' Man Island features rock formations, rope swings, a waterslide and a play area. Recreational amenities include six outdoor pools, and rental bicycles and watercraft. A fishing hole is stocked with catch-and-release bass, bluegill and catfish. Horse-drawn carriage rides operate nightly.

Guestrooms. The resort is divided into the Magnolia Bend and Alligator Bayou sections. Magnolia Bend reflects antebellum grace with smoke-free guestrooms housed in three-story, mansion-style buildings positioned along the river. Alligator Bayou's smoke-free guestrooms are set within rustic, country-style lodges. Alligator Bayou beds are lit by overhead lanterns and feature 250-thread count sheets, gingham bedspreads and tree-branch accented headboards. Armoires feature stamped-tin doors. Pine-paneled vanity areas display bark-framed mirrors, and inlaid stone and tile floors. Accommodations include refrigerators and coffeemakers. High-speed Internet access is available for a fee.

Expert Tip. Children ages four to 12 hunt for Captain John Lafitte's lost treasure on the Bayou Pirate Adventure Cruise. Youngsters are invited to search for the Captain's lost booty on a boating adventure that includes lunch. Fees apply.

Disney's Magical Express:

Guests of the resort are eligible for complimentary Disney's Magical Express Service. Motor coaches take guests from Orlando International Airport to the resort hotel. Disney picks up and delivers guests' luggage to their selected accommodations (for arrivals between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.). Guests arriving outside of these hours should pick up their baggage at baggage claim to carry with them on the motor coach. Complete details and instructions will be provided on the confirmation page, at booking.
