Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 32Worked for me.
In my opinion, the hotel was fine. Close to the atractions in Monterrey that I was interested in seeing. I would stay there again.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 3 of 32unfriendly!
The hotel is ok, but the "landlord", a family from India, is very unfriendly. First they graded us up, then they demanded payment for it. After having paid more than the price offerd by hotel-com, he never looked at me again. The "breakfast" was the least he dared to offer I believe. We saw a lot of hotels in the USA on our trip, but this one didn't give us a good feeling at all.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 32Dingy Towels and Linens
The flowers around the parking lot were amazing, but that's where the fun ended. The towels and sheets were actually grey. The lady at check-in was pleasant but the man who came out of the apartment was mean and grouchy. I noted other visitors had the same commment.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 32Low End Motel
I needed a quick night's stay and had said just a clean bed and bath would do. That's all you get here. The motel is listed as offering breakfast, but there is just a coffee pot (if you drink coffee, and I don't - no hot water for tea or juice) and a tray of small grocery pastries (out of the cellophane) and cut in half. It happened to be a Friday night at the beginning of a special event nearby so I paid a horrendous fee for the night, but it was still the cheapest night I could find - next time I would go to another place I know more about even if it cost more money.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 8 of 32OK room just for a place to crash
This place was the cheapest I could find for the area, considering that it was ok for the person who just needed a bed to sleep in and a shower the next day. Kind of old and ugly with paper thin walls. Is close to CSU Monterey Bay and the Cannery. Still do not think its worth the amount of money I spent

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 9 of 32Good budget hotel for area.
My husband and I booked a room at Discovery Inn at the last minute because we hadn't planned on staying overnight in Monterrey and already had a hotel room in SF. We found the room decent for the price and the bed surprisingly comfortable (for the price). We were very happy with the accommodations. If you are looking for a basic, but decent hotel room for a reasonable price, this is it. Only one thing was bad: the towels were so thin you could almost see through them.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 32Mixed Bag
This hotel has a good location: restaurants, major grocery stores, and gas stations are nearby. Also, it is not far from the Monterey aquarium or Fisherman's Wharf. Our room was fairly large and had three beds, but we did not find it totally comfortable. The mattresses were firm, and the mattress my wife and I slept on had a large dip in the middle; it was well worn. (It made us look forward to getting back home to our own bed!) The room is old and feels unpleasantly old. The bathroom had no towel racks. In all of our travels, we have never seen a room without a place to hang towels. However, every morning the staff did make up the room and provided us with fresh towels, which made up for the missing towel racks, sort of. Furthermore, I must say that the place was clean despite the old feel it has. So if you aren't going to spend a lot of time in the room, this might be the place for you--as long as you don't mind a well-worn, firm mattress.

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 32Very nice hotel, rates reasonable
I enjoyed my stay at Discovery Inn. My only complaints, need for extra pillows, and FITTED bottom sheet on bed. You move in bed, and sheet goes with you. Otherwise, clean, quiet and pleasant to stay at. I will definitely stay there again, should the need arise. Thank you

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 32Could be better but was clean
This was a last minute pick for me so I took what I could on my budget. The one thing that could be easily improved is get fitted sheets.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 13 of 32Worth the Price
Like reviews suggested, the walls were a little bit thin. This wasn't too bad of a problem. I suggest running either the heat/AC to drown out the minor noise. It's worth it to save a few bucks and to not be right in town. It is very close to Monterey and it was on my way to San Francisco anyway, so location didn't matter. Also, I happened to get there way early and I called to ask when the check-in time was. "Come on over now" was the response, so that was great. I think it was about one in the afternoon. Some hotels don't let you check in until two or three. My only minor complaint was that shampoo wasn't included in the hotel room. I didn't notice that until after my trip to the grocery store and I didn't feel like going back out. The other hotel where I stayed (in San Francisco) had the shampoo - I was about ready to go to Walgreens. But other than that, no complaints. Above all, I was happy with the price, so there were no problems.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 14 of 32Great for the price
I was a great room for the money. Clean, comfortable, in a fairly decent location, nice people running the place. My only two minor complaints were that the bed was a little harder than I like and the shower pressure was a little low. Regardless, I'd definitely go there again.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 15 of 32Beautiful flowers! and Nice People too
Nice little spot in the over commercialized Monterey area. The room was basic but clean and the people were very nice. I was happy to spend my money there. It was clear that the pride of ownership was at work at The Discovery Inn. Also, I booked through hotels.com and had no problems.
