The location was very nice, next to the old town. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast buffet was very good. Spa/pool was very nice. Only complaint was the bed. I was traveling as a single and got a twin bed. The bed seemed to be a soviet era futon mattress, twin size. No springs or box frame. (I sleep on a very firm mattress at home, this was one step above sleeping on the floor) When I complained they quickly moved me to another room...with the exact same bed. Not satisfactory. In addition, there is a lot of construction going on around the hotel. It was much better when they moved me to the side opposite the Danube. I found that if you turned on the ventilation fan, it would drown out the noise.

Description

See more details

Situated on the banks of the river Danube and designed by Slovak architect Emil Belus, the Hotel Devin is less than one kilometer from Bratislava Castle. Traditionally furnished rooms in pastel colors, with leather and dark wood antique-style furniture make up the 100 guestrooms. All the rooms have views either over the Danube or of the old town, and come with air conditioning, minibars, bathrobes and satellite television.

The hotel's grand restaurant offers an impressive wine list of over 200 bottles to mull over. The food has a distinctive French and Slovakian bent and is known for its surprising combinations and culinary flair. The cafe is a more relaxed place to eat, serving snacks and cakes; the aperitif bar serves cocktails. Guests can work off any overindulgence in the hotel's squash courts or in the complimentary pool, health club, spa tub, or sauna. Access to the full-service spa is complimentary for all guests.

The Municipal Museum is one kilometer from the hotel, complete with torture chambers, for the gruesomely curious, while the Museum of Wine Production is sure to be an intoxicating experience. Bratislava's Ivanka Airport is 20 minutes and eight kilometers from the hotel. Bus number 61 connects the airport and main railway station (Hlavna Stanica). Guests can take a taxi to the city center at a cost of around SKK200, or the hotel can arrange transfers to and from the airport; contact the front desk in advance to arrange this. Bus and tram services cover most of the city. Tickets are available in the ticket machines at the stops and at some newspaper stands.

Please note:

A city tax is applicable to all bookings; this charge is not included in the rates and is payable locally.
