Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 12Great, with one crucial exception
Most everything about this hotel is great. The one exception, and it's a big one, is that the beds are VERY hard and uncomfortable. Considering the major reason one stays in a hotel is to get a good night sleep, this is a deal breaker for me.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 12Great location
Great hotel location, easy walk to many sites, friendly accomodating staff, good breakfast @ reasonable price. Would definately stay there again. Only complaint was that the beds and pillows were very hard

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 12Great hotel
The Hotel De Mendoza was outstanding in all aspects. the location (in the Centro Historico) was ideal for our purposes, within walking distance of many local attractions. The food in the Forja restaurant was great, and the service equally outstanding. All the hotel staff were very courteous and attentive, eager to serve. I have now stayed there 3 different times, and would recommend the De Mendoza highly for anyone.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 12Needs Improvements
I think that the hotel needs to have a mini refrigator in the JR suites, or suites, due to the fact that when you travel with kids it is always needed. I also think some of the staff needs to be more pleasant.

My frist night I hada a very noisey room. Prior to arriving I had made 2 requests for a quite rooms as we were on a business trip. I had a problem with staff changeing my room and ran into the same problem with with a co-workers room.We were missinformed by staff.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 12Great Hotel and Great Location
De Mendoza Hotel is a great hotel with an excellent central location for Guadalajara travelers. Its an older hotel, in a beautiful Spanish Colonial style, similar to nearby government buildings, churches and museums. We stayed in a jr. suite which was quite spacious and very comfortable. The staff was very professional, and if your Spanish needs some help, most are fluent in English. The hotel caters to tourists and business travelers, so the atmosphere was a little more formal from what we have seen in hotels in coastal tourist destinations. For example, for breakfast one morning, nearlyl all of the restaurant guests were wearing suits or "business casual". Shorts were a little out of place, but frequently are in non-tourist areas. All in all, great hotel, great service, and great value for those who want a more authentic experience in lovely Guadalajara!
