Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 65Great Ocean Front Room
This hotel is situated in an old building, but it obviously has been cared for over the years. The Air Conditioner works well, and the facilities were very clean, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I will return again and again!

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 65Not the best first impression
It is hard to pick a hotel online. Our late evening arrival and first impression was not positive. I didn't realize how old the place was, or that the view from the small windows wasn't what I had expected from an ocean view room. Our room was clean and we ajusted. By the second day we got used to the place, and probably would return again. The area reminded us of Rio.

First thing... NO PARKING! There is metered parking (which is free after 8:00pm)but if you arrive early in the day, be prepared to circle around for a while. Though I told the clerk I had on-line reservations through Hotels.com, at the time of check-in the clerk quoted me a higher price. (Of course, I showed him my reservation confirmation and he immediately corrected the problem.) Then came the "other" surprise... I was told that I would be charged an additional $7.07 for the microwave and refrigerator in the room! My response to that "I guess I will be taking the frig and microwave with me when I leave! I did call Hotels.com and expressed my dissatisfaction and they DID resolve the problem for me. All-in-all I got what I paid for.

Great location close to the beach

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 65Bad service
we booked two ocean-view rooms with extra charges. We were given rooms initially that are not ocean facing. When we asked about it they chnaged to 'partially' view rooms, but it was not a good view. Boothroom floors were not cleaned. room is very small. Elevator was not working.

old hotel, old elevator, neighborhood is fishy, great location though. it someplace you can go with your boys not with your lady. One night someone was getting arrested across the street from the hotel. that happens in south beach on ocean drive all the time though too.

the hotel needs a lot of improvement. the bed was incredibly unconfortable. A terrible smell of bleach was all the time in our floor. the carpet all over the hotel needs to be deeply clean.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 13 of 65Very very bad
At 4:30 p.m. the room wasn't ready. We must wait about one hour. No parking space around the hotel. Staff very unfriendly. For oceanview you must pay 20 bucks extra. The hotel has two stars. For what????

Front desk personnel were polite and courtesy, except for 1 that was too serious. For what we paid the room was excellent. The pool was good. But the most I like was the perfect location for the prize, nice beach, near of everything. What I did not like too much was the problem with the parking, we couldn´t rest like we would like thinking of the time of the parking during the morning that may expire. A big mirror at the room will be nice to have, the mirror in the bathroom is not enough, if someone is using the bathroom. Overall I recommend the hotel, it even had a convenience restaurant. Yeah I will go again!!!

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 15 of 65not so bad
The hotel was run down a bit, but the bed was really comfortable and the AC worked well. One thing we didn't like was that they charged us $5.32 automatically for the refrigerator and safe use even if we didn't use it. So that added more to the cost of the "low" rate. Also a bit of advice, we arrived late at night, so instead of paying the $6 something for a parking pass (that expires at 11am the day of checkout), we woke up in time to pay $1 an hour at the meters, which they start at 8am. So we saved over $4 for parking for about the same amount of time. There was nothing around this hotel, all the attractions were a few miles away, but north of there was Walmart and south was South Beach, all of the A1A which the hotel was right off of.
