Dauphine Orleans Hotel

Location. The 18th century former French Quarter townhouse, Dauphine Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, La., was built in 1775 and stands one block from Bourbon Street. Many New Orleans popular attractions are located one mile from the hotel, including Harrah's New Orleans Casino & Hotel, the Mississippi River and the Riverwalk.

Hotel Features. Complimentary continental breakfasts and complimentary afternoon tea are served daily, and May Bailey's Lounge is located on site. Two complimentary cocktails per room are offered upon checkin, and complimentary appetizers are served each evening. Complimentary wireless Internet access is provided. A fountain-filled courtyard houses an outdoor splash pool and spa tub. The hotel staff takes care of the resident black cat, who wanders the property each day.

Guestrooms. Many guestrooms feature exposed brick walls and desks. Bathrooms contain granite countertops, marble floors and Archive toiletries. Beds are draped with 300-thread count linens. All rooms include flat-screen televisions and complimentary wireless Internet access.

Expert Tip. May Bailey'Place, once an infamous bordello in the red-light district, now serves as the hotel bar. Each room contains a copy of the license issued to May in 1857. The hotel is non-smoking, but smoking is permited on the patio and in May Baily's Bar. There is a $200 penalty fee charged.
